Morrowind talk:The Imprisonment of Mastrius
Bug mention[edit]
"Sometimes the game will not notice that you have killed him and the jornal entry which says you have completed the mission does not occur." This is a general bug affecting many other quests, in my experience. This probably could be deleted out safely. --Edwin Herdman 02:43, 7 March 2007 (EST)
ok well i was the one who put it there so feel free to remove it.--Duncans pumpkin 08:12, 11 March 2007 (EDT)
I believe this bug is especially common with this quest and, therefore, the fix should be mentioned. --Adamantios 19:59, 14 August 2007 (EDT)
I had this problem, but didn't have it anywhere else, the fix was really useful. Although now he's up and about, he still won't talk to me :( -- Rhube 22:41, 16 September 2009 (GMT)
Mastrius[edit]
sorry if this is the wrong place (i know this is discussion of the article, not the quest)...
when i open the door mastrius is asleep! just lying on the floor, moving slightly (definitely breathing...) . i've thought about 'prodding' him slightly with my sword but i thougth maybe there is an alternative way of waking him that would start a quest. so i checked UESP and its not mentioned.... why does my game do this? i have no mods that affect the whole game....
EDIT: morrowind can be weird. i was searching around the internet for more clues as to why dear mastrius is asleep. i thought maabe its because i'm not a vampire and this seems to be a vampire quest. then i checked back on the screen and he'd woken up! so i checked the time: 6:23 PM. ahhh, so he was asleep during the day, because he's a vampire. right? i'll wait for some kind of confirmation on this before updating the page.
-I'm using the original XBox version, and I'm confirming that during daylight, 6am-8pm, he's lying on the floor, sort of moving, and interaction makes a loot box come up. I dropped a potion in it, and it was lost, and I waited until night. He was standing up and I was able to get the quest, and I got my potion back.
well i have both the heart and the spell breaker shield...however all he says is "why have you not brought me the items i need?" HELP
Vampire Quest[edit]
Do you need to be a vampire to begin this quest? 86.46.204.201 10:13, 21 June 2009 (EDT)
- I wouldn't say so. As the quest page explains, you just have to find Mastrius. –Eshetalk 14:08, 21 June 2009 (EDT)
- But it's likely that if you aren't a vampire yourself then Mastrius will attack you on sight. On the other hand, if Mastrius is not hostile even to non-vampires then this quest should be under the miscellaneous quests. -Meisterdieb 20:01, 20 January 2010 (UTC)
- When I encountered Mastrius I was not a vampire, he was non-hostile but would not give the quest. You do need to be a vampire.
- I can second that. If you're not vampire, he's not hostile and will tell you something like 'you're not supposed to be here'. He will not give the quest. Oxyk 14:04, 14 January 2012 (UTC)
- I've added it. Wolok gro-Barok 15:43, 14 January 2012 (UTC)

Stamina?[edit]
The article states that he drains half your health and stamina. I would appreciate enlightenment into what "stamina" is. The article then should be changed so it states a valid statistic.

- In both Morrowind and Oblivion, a lot of mods substitute "Stamina" in place of "Fatigue" due to the inverse logic involved in things like "Drain Fatigue" (i.e., if you're draining fatigue then you're actually becoming less fatigued, not more). The poster probably just got confused. Quest Index 90 makes it crystal clear what's affected. ‒ Robin Hood↝Talk 03:38, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
Another Bug[edit]
Mastrius will not give me any new options when I return to him with the shield and the heart, any one know a way around this. I know Im still a vampire 69.146.97.211 00:55, 31 July 2013 (GMT)
