Skyrim Mod:Verified Creator Program

The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995

The Verified Creator Program features Creations for Skyrim Special Edition that have been vetted and approved for sale by Bethesda Game Studios. The Bethesda Game Studios Verified Creator Program was introduced on December 5, 2023, coinciding with the release of Special Edition Patch 1.6.1130 which combined mods and Creation Club Creations under one "Creations" menu and name. Mod authors may apply to be admitted into the Verified Creator Program. If they are accepted, they may submit their Creations to Bethesda's quality assurance process and await their verification. Users may purchase Creations released through the Verified Creator Program using Creation CreditsCredits, and the authors will receive royalties for each sale.

The Verified Creator Program may be seen as a development of the Creation Club. The primary difference is that Creation Club Creations were official microtransactional content commissioned by Bethesda, whereas the Verified Creator Program features third party mods vetted by Bethesda. Verified Creators are not hired or contracted, which opens the opportunity to more people. The difference in the payment of the author is that they receive royalties instead of being paid for completing a contract, which means the profit is more closely correlated with the success of the Creation.

Unlike Creation Club Creations, Verified Creator Program Creations are not included with the Anniversary Edition. Verified Creator Program Creations are not as restricted when it comes to asset use and may utilize voiced dialogue. As a result, some Verified Creations are not available on PlayStation due to the restrictions on third party mods on that platform.

Notes

  • Bethesda has been involved in the development process of Creations released through the Verified Creator Program, such as discussing lore and providing support, including QA.[1]
  • Bethesda has been working on adding an Achievement Friendly option for Skyrim's Verified Creator Program Creations.[1] In addition to stating as much via Discord, a flag has erroneously and briefly appeared on certain Creation pages alongside the icons for available platforms, with hover text of "This does not disable achievements". This includes "Silent Moons Weapons" on April 26, 2024 (Bethesda confirmed this was unintentional and that they were still working to implement this feature properly), "Classic Dialogue Menu" on June 27, 2024 (it was verified to still disable achievements at the time), and "A Tale of Blood and Snow" on November 26, 2024.
  • There were mentions of a new marketplace in test files of Skyrim on the Steam database, released in December 2022 and January 2023, long before the announcement of the Verified Creator Program.[2]
  • Bethesda initially made frequent use of the term "Verified Creation" to refer to a Creation released through the Verified Creator Program. However, they stated in October 2024 that they have "corrected" their usage to never use the term since June 2024.[1]
  • A Verified Creator for Starfield received permission from Bethesda to make an Elder Scrolls-themed Creation for the game titled Ashlander Living.
