Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Speak to Madala Ceno about Orders in the Legion Post in Shipal-Sharai. Madala mentions that there's smugglers operating in the mine underneath Shipal-Sharai, and she wants you to go clear them out so other Legion Operatives can come in and pick up the contraband in the mines.
At this point there are several ways to get into the mine:
- You can find some information on getting a mine key from asking the Hlaalu guard in the Warehouse, in the southwest side of town, as he says that the governor has ordered the mine to be closed because it's "dangerous in there". Asking anyone outside of the warehouse about someone in particular and you'll learn that Llaros Samalsi is the governor of Smipal-Sharai.
- If you're House Brother rank with House Hlaalu, you can speak with Llaros Samalsi in her home in town and ask for the key and enter the mines through the warehouse.
- Otherwise, you can pickpocket Llaros for the key as well, and enter through the warehouse.
- You can speak to Llavela Vian in the House of Red Wings about smuggling in the mines, and she'll point you to the Avilo's Gem and Rock shop, where you helped Dravosa Avilo recover her husband from some outlaws. Speaking to Meldras, who is behind the counter and downstairs inside the building, behind Dravosa, he'll tell you that he has a secret entrance to the mine in the basement. He gives you the key to the trapdoor in his back room as thanks for rescuing him.
- You can speak to Yul-Nammula on top of the Legion Post, and he'll point out that he's seen paupers with miner's picks entering the abandoned store across the street. That's another entry into the mine.
On getting into the mine, you'll want to be looking to head southwest in the mine, looking for the door labeled Mine: Lower Level. There's a few goodies to be had in the mine, but not much, a few sapphires, Skooma, etc. If you got into the mine through the Abandoned Store or the Avilo's gem and stone store, I'd recommend not crossing through into the doors labeled Warehouse or Shipal-Sharai, as those will put you outside of the mine and will require the unlocking of doors to get back into the mine.
When you finally get to the Lower Level door, go through it and follow the tunnel directly to 2 smugglers. Kill the 2 smugglers, and then go back to Madala Ceno. She'll thank you for your work and tell you to come back in a day to see how your work has panned out.
Wait 24 hours and then speak to her again, and she'll tell you:
It was the strangest thing, <Imperial Legion Rank>. As soon as our agents emerged from the mine, Ivrosa over there came to the post and confessed to all of it. She claimed that she and the dead guards were solely responsible. I doubt her story, but the governor and upper brass in Narsis are going along with it. You did well, but I believe we may have failed here. At least we got the contraband. This crossbow is for you, <Imperial Legion Rank>. Use it well.
You will receive a crossbow named Desert Wind, and the quest ends.
