Cedus Perusius

Cedus Perusius, an Imperial pawnbroker, is the owner of Ice-Wind Traders, a general goods store in Bruma.

Cedus wakes up early every morning at 6am and grabs a quick breakfast before opening his store for trading at 8am. For the next twelve hours he can be found behind his counter, buying and selling any item. At 8pm he locks up and heads to the Jerall View Inn to share some food and drink with Bruma's wealthy denizens. At midnight, he will return home and head to bed. The only exception to this schedule is on Sundas, when he locks up early at 5pm and visits the Cathedral of St. Martin to pray.

Cedus wears Cyrodiilic merchant clothes and matching boots, and is armed with a steel sword. He also carries the keys to the store and to a display case there, as well a random selection of gold, lockpicks, gems, jewelry, food and drink.

Dialogue[edit]

When walking into his store, Cedus will greet you warmly:

"Name's Cedus Perusius, owner and proprietor of Ice-Wind Traders here in Bruma. A diverse and wide range of supplies and sundries, all under one roof."
"Welcome to Ice-Wind Traders. If you don't see what you need out here, let me know. Might have it in the back."
"From bread to battleaxes, spoons to swords, I have it all here at Ice-Wind Traders!"

You can now ask him a few questions:

What do you sell?
"Why, my friend, surely the better question is, what DON'T I sell? I sell anything and everything... or thereabouts."
How's business?
"Business is always good for a general goods merchant like myself, since I don't rely on any particular thing to draw in sales. Take poor old Fadel, the butcher, for example. If someone doesn't want meat, he doesn't have a customer. But me? Someone doesn't want meat, they want silverware. Don't want silverware? How about a potion? And so and so on and so on."
What are your most popular items?
"Hmm... most things are very popular. The only thing that isn't popular is cutlery."
Why is that?
"Turns out the Nords aren't all that big on table etiquette."
I'm not even going to ask.
"Yes, indeed. So, want to buy anything?"

Should you speak to him outside of opening hours, he will say:

"Oh, hi there. Store's closed right now, and I'm off work. Something you need?"

Quest-Related Events[edit]

Dartaqto misc task[edit]

If you ask Stantus Faleria for rumors, you might hear about Cedus's misadventures:

"I heard the general store, Ice-Wind Traders, got robbed by the Khajiit, Dar'taqto. Or so Cedus says."

Indeed, Cedus has leveled charges against the cat, who will ask you for help in lifting them:

What trouble are you in?
"This one has been falsely accused of stealing from Ice-Wind Traders, the general store. They tell him he has stolen their hides, and that he is selling them at his stall. This is false. This one has done nothing of the sort. In fact, perhaps you could help. Adius Vilius is the captain of the guard here in Bruma. If you speak to him, perhaps he will change his mind."
Aren't you a thief? Why should I help you?
"Because the accusation is false. Regardless of this one's past - or his future - he has not stolen from the merchant. He does not steal from hard-working business owners. He steals from the pampered, the opulent and the unjust."

Despite the cat's insistence, he will in fact be found burgling Ice-Wind Traders on Loredas and Sundas between 3am and 7am.

Service Rewarded[edit]

Once you have completed Service Rewarded and bought White Pine Lodge, Cedus will sell you upgrades for the house:

Let's talk about furnishing my house.
"Ah, yes! The new owner of White Pine Lodge! I have plenty of items you might be interested in to spruce the place up a little. Make a house a home, and all that. So, what're you interested in?"
How about a basement crafting area? (350 Gold)
"Great stuff - that's an anvil, grindstone, tanning rack... the works."
I'd like a better bedroom. (300 Gold)
"A good night's sleep in a finely-crafted bed! And plenty of other furnishings. Great choice."
I'd like decorations for the main hall. (300 Gold)
"Always important to have a nicely-decorated main hall. First impressions are everything, and all that."
I want to spruce up the stairs. (250 Gold)
"Ah, you want to spruce up the old staircase? Scrumptious! Sorry, alliteration. I brought my flamboyant side out to play, I... sorry."
I could use a nice, cozy study... (250 Gold)
"Ah, couldn't we all use one of those? Well, luckily, I have all the furniture needed for a wonderful study."

After each purchase he will smile:

"I'll send someone over to install them right away. Anything else?"

If at any point you try to buy a furnishing without having the required cash, he will wring his hands:

"Ah. I'd love to, but... well, you don't have the gold. Sorry, friend."

Should you tell him it's enough for now, he will try to shift his other wares:

I'm done buying furnishings for now.
"Alright, then. You need anything else? Cutlery, perhaps?"

He will leave you lots of choice when it comes to your workroom in particular:

About my workroom...
"Ah, yes. I've looked around White Pine a few times, myself, I know the layout. That room would be perfect for an alchemy lab or an enchanting table. Or both. Take your pick."
Actually, never mind.
"That's fine."

Should you return, he will say:

"Ah, yes. Changed your mind? I can redecorate it for you, if you'd like."
Just the alchemy lab, please. (500 Gold)
"Excellent! An alchemy lab and all the furnishings that come with it. Try not to poison yourself. I'll send someone over to install them right away. Bear in mind that the enchanting table is still on the... well, table."
I'll take the enchanting table. (500 Gold)
"An enchanting table, complete with doodads. Great choice. Try not to set your house on fire, though. I'll send someone over to install them right away. Keep in mind I still have the alchemy lab you could, err... add to the mix."
Give me both. (1000 Gold)
"Ah, you want both! Great choice. Options, versatility! Fun on a rainy day! I'll send someone over to install them right away. Keep in mind that I can furnish that room to be more specialized if you have just a lab or table. If you change your mind and decide you want to go back to basics a bit, just let me know."
