You can reply in two ways with the first being:

I used to live here, a long time ago...

"You did huh? Bet it's changed a bit since then."

or

"Must have been before my time. I don't remember you at all."

The other option is:

My name is <PlayerName>.

"Hello, <PlayerName>. I'm Zakana."

When spoken to any other time afterward:

What happened here?

"As far as I can tell, the Queen's men broke off the head of the statue, and it exploded in a ball of green fire."

What do you do here?

"I'm a farmer. I work the fields to the north of town."

Do you get a lot of people passing through?

"A few here and there. You're the first in a while."

"I'm just a modest farmer, brave Warrior."

"Of course! The Queen's men were telling us there was a price for being late on our taxes. One broke off the head of the statue in the center of the town with a big hammer, and it just exploded into flames.

When spoken to after the Sorcerer-King is defeated:

"I know you stopped the town from being destroyed and everything, but... I get the feeling none of this would have happened if you hadn't shown up."

It's true.

"Really? ... Oh. You're just pulling my leg. Good one."

The town was on fire when I got here.

"Pretty good timing, I'd say. Maybe it was fate. Or just a coincidence."

That's just silly.
