Sorrow (or Glushun in Old Orcish)[1] is the tallest mountain in the Wrothgarian Mountains.[2][3] While not the tallest mountain in Tamriel, it is one of the deadliest.[4] The mountain once served as an ancient burial ground for the Orcs. Orcs in the process of dying would often climb the mountain side, and cairns or wedge tombs would be placed where they fell.[2][5] The mountain serves as the final resting place of King Torug. The mountains dangers, include Ogres, Harpies and worst of all, deadly avalanches that make the path up the mountain extremely treacherous. Many an Orc have perished, having been killed by the inhabitants or swept away by the avalanches, and legends state that seven Orcish clans were sacrificed building Torug's Tomb.[4][6]
History[edit]
At some point within the First Era, King Torug had a tomb built upon the Mountain. The tomb is located at the higher elevation of the mountainside, but not at the summit. King Torug would climb the mountain to die within his tomb. Not pleased that it rested below the Summit, he would climb even higher towards the peak of the mountain to die, and it was here where he would meet his end.[4]
In 2E 582 of the Second Era, the House of Orsimer Glories in Orsinium hired a famed treasure hunter and her faithful manservant, along with a scholar who specialized in King Torug's history, to climb Sorrow and recover the Armlet of Torug for the museum. Many members of the expedition died due to the mountains' dangers. With the aid of the Vestige, the treasure hunter, manservant, and the scholar, climbed up the mountainside, braving the Harpies, Ogres and avalanches to recover the armlet. It is unknown if the Vestige ended up siding with the scholar and kept the armlet on the mountains peak for future Orcs to climb the mountain to see. Or if it was taken to the House of Orsimer Glories for all Orcs who wanted to gaze upon it in safety.[6]
