Lore talk:King's Guard
The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995
Preemptive combination[edit]
I assume the reason this page was created with the disambig in the title was to leave open an article for the region King's Guard later. However, I'm not sure that there's really a reason to have separate articles for the range and the region it defines. I think this is basically equivalent to Wrothgar, where the region is purely delineated by its proximity to the mountains and is thus not really a separate entity. So my proposal would be to move this page to just King's Guard and include what little info we have on the region itself. -- Hargrimm(T) 21:43, 28 November 2014 (GMT)
- Your assumption is correct - I was going to name it "King's Guard Mountains", but couldn't find that form of the name in any official source, so I decided to just name it "King's Guard".
- The King's Guard region is more than just mountains, and conversely, only a part of the mountain range is actually located within that region. My opinion is that the articles should be separate - also because I'm working on documenting all known geographical features of Tamriel, like mountains or bodies of water, and I generally think that named mountain ranges should have their own pages. As for Wrothgar, with the current data we have it's reasonable to treat Wrothgar and Wrothgarian Mountains as the same thing, but it isn't impossible that after the region comes out, it will turn out to be not exactly true and the need for two separate articles will arise. But that's just my opinion. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 23:13, 28 November 2014 (GMT)
- King's Guard is also the name of a town in the region. It appears only in Arena though.--StormySkies (talk) 00:53, 29 November 2014 (GMT)

- Okay then, but what should it look like? Like one section for a mountain range, one for the region, and a mention about the town in the latter? What do you think? -Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 01:22, 29 November 2014 (GMT)

- Categorising it as a region would be best, I think. That's what I've done with places such as Mistwatch, which covers the region, the temple, and the fort despite their being different locations. Since the region is defined by the mountains and the Arena settlement is barely notable, I think it would work fine. Wrothgar is also a good precedent to fall back on. —Legoless (talk) 01:30, 29 November 2014 (GMT)

- Alright. I can try to do it, or you can, since you've done it before. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 01:46, 29 November 2014 (GMT)

- Just out of curiosity, is there in-game dialogue or anything from ESO you're referencing for the page? The only source I could find was the single book that's already cited, which is kind of ambiguous about the exact name of the mountains as opposed to the region. It's very frustrating not having full access to ESO's dialogue files like we do for all the previous games. -- Hargrimm(T) 02:00, 29 November 2014 (GMT)

- I don't remember, I did these regions long ago. Yeah, it's very frustrating because you can't go back to a quest you did... Anyway, the authors of Rivenspire and Glenumbra lore articles also mentioned this mountain range, so I considered the book to be enough. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 02:13, 29 November 2014 (GMT)
