This quest page is currently being rechecked as part of the Oblivion Remastered Project. The page is being checked in several stages to verify any changes due to the release of Oblivion Remastered. All users are welcome to make changes to the page. If you make a change that is relevant to the project, please update this template accordingly, and make sure you have observed the project guidelines.
You can start this quest by asking about Rumors once reaching Level 5.[verification needed — is there a level requirement?] You will be directed to the Imperial City's Talos Plaza District. Near the Dragon statue in the center, there is a note pinned to a barrel: Mythic Dawn Pamphlet 1. Reading it will direct you to Hircine's Shrine. You can also begin this quest by finding this first pamphlet on your own.
Once at the Shrine, follow the direction the gaze of the shrine's wolf state to find a tree. There will be another note pinned there, Mythic Dawn Pamphlet 2. Reading that will direct you to The Lucky Old Lady in Bravil.
Head to Bravil, to the statue of the Lucky Old Lady in the center of town. The final note, Mythic Dawn Pamphlet 4 , is pinned to the inside of the stone barrier around the statue, directly in front of the Lady. This note will instruct you to locate a "shy Dunmer".
Your journal will suggest you check the nearest inn. Although Silverhome on the Water is closer, your compass will direct you across the river to the Lonely Suitor Lodge. Speak with the innkeeper, Bogrum Gro-Galash, and he will suggest that the shy Dunmer could be Ranaline, the cook.
Speak with Ranaline and she will have a dialogue option to discuss the trail of Mythic Dawn notes. However, she will refuse to speak with you about it if her Disposition is below 50. You can increase it using Persuasion, bribes, or a Charm spell. Once she trusts you sufficiently, she will hand you a Mythic Dawn Robe and matching Hood and instruct you to go to Mingo Cave while wearing them. This will end the quest and begin the next one, The Crimson Cave.
You will only receive the rumor for this quest from NPCs with new voice actors. The new line was not recorded for any NPC that still uses their original voice acting.
All four pamphlets remain marked as Quest Items, even after both quests have been completed. This means they will be stuck in your inventory forever if you pick them up.
You do not need to take the pamphlets to progress the quest; simply reading them is enough.
Unlike other Disposition checks, Ranaline's Mythic Dawn Notes dialogue option does not remain golden if you fail to persuade her. As a result, you are given no visual indication that you need to increase her Disposition to progress the quest. ?

Notes
Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage (?) stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
