Glistel

Glistel is a Dark Elf agent living at Malintus Ancrus' house in Chorrol. You may hear many rumors from townspeople expressing their disgust at the relationship. It is possible, however, that this relationship is merely a front; as they are in fact both Thieves Guild members, and the only representatives of the guild living in the city. She offers basic Sneak training.

She wakes up at 6am and spends the next six hours wandering around the house, offering her services from 8am. At noon she takes a two-hour lunch, before resuming he wandering, which she keeps up until 8pm. At this point she will stop offering her services and instead head outside to the fountain by the south gate. She remains there until midnight, when she heads back home to sleep, though a bug usually means she cannot get any shut-eye.

The only exception to this routine is during the Arrow of Extrication quest, when she will relocate to The Oak and Crosier while you meet with the Gray Fox. Once you leave for Bravil, she will resume his normal schedule. Once the quest is complete, however, a bug results in her spending the rest of the game inside the inn, never offering her services.

She wears upper-class clothing consisting of a highwayman's shirt, a green silk garment, and a pair of green velvet shoes. She is armed with an iron dagger and carries her key and a modest sum of gold.

Dialogue

Glistel will introduce herself when first spoken to:

"I'm Glistel. What do you need?"

Asking her about the city will prompt her to talk about her housemate:

Chorrol

"My housemate, Malintus Ancus [sic], and I are well-known in certain circles here. But, you don't travel in those circles, do you?"

When asked about Chorrol, Malintus will provide a hint:

"Glistel and me, we keep an eye on things here in Chorrol for certain interested parties... as a public service, like."

Rumors

The townspeople are quick to speak rumors about the situation between Glistel and Malintus:

"I can't believe that Glistel would live with that Malintus Ancrus. Shameful, and her being such a lovely girl."

"I don't understand what Glistel is doing with Malintus Ancrus. I mean, have you seen her? And have you seen him? I just don't get it."

"I'm sure you've heard that Glistel and Malintus Ancrus are living together. Simply shameful."

"Have you seen Glistel and Malintus Ancrus together? Isn't it awful?"

Though not everyone shares the same outlook on the relationship:

"The whole thing is a big shame. She's such a nice young girl."

"I don't see a problem with it. Perhaps they're in love."

"You're right. It's shameful. Still, what is anyone supposed to do? It's her life."

Others will reply:

"It is awful. Her poor mother. What is Glistel thinking?"

While some will be more forgiving:

"I don't see a problem with those two. It's a bit odd, but that's their business."

Notes

• It is never specified as to why exactly Glistel and Malintus' relationship is so controversial to the townsfolk. In the final game, it appears that Glistel is of a higher class than Malintus, based on their clothing, but this is never elaborated on.
  • A likely explanation for this, is that Malintus was originally an Orc by the name of Murgakh gro-Ushag. The name of their key in the final game is a leftover of this, and multiple internal names also confirm this fact. The rumors about Glistel and Malintus were also re-recorded, as seen by attached notes, so it is possible that the townsfolk were originally meant to be outraged at the fact that she was in a relationship with an Orc, which is a lot rarer than mer-man relationships.

Bugs

• Due to faulty conditions, after the Arrow of Extrication quest Glistel will spend all her day in The Oak and Crosier and will no longer offer her services.
  • The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, version 3.3.2, fixes this bug.
• Glistel is meant to sleep from midnight to 6am. However, due to the placement of the bed and Malintus already being asleep, she often is unable to reach her side of the bed and sleep. Instead, she ends up sitting in a chair and yawning through the night. ^?
