Ilav Dralgoner, a disillusioned Imperial priest of Akatosh, is one of the refugees of Kvatch. He is found just north of the refugee camp, wandering around aimlessly.
He wears some grey robes and carries a torch and some gold. He wanders barefoot around the bottom of the road leading up to Kvatch, never even eating or sleeping.
All of the spells that Dralgoner can cast are level-dependent. Specifically, he can cast a random-leveled major Restoration spell and a standard leveled set of major Priest spells (always strongest for his skill level).
Related Quests[edit]
- A Wound In TimeOBR: Investigate a series of kidnappings on the Gold Coast.
- Saving Time ItselfOBR: Recover a stolen Elder Scroll for the Order of the Hour.
Dialogue[edit]
When you approach him, it becomes apparent he has lost his faith:
- "Hope is gone. The Imperial line is dead. The Covenant is broken. The Enemy has won."
When asked about the Covenant, Ilav will repeat:
- Covenant
- "The Imperial line is dead, and the gods have forsaken us. Where is our blessing? Where is our protection? Where are our gods? The Enemy triumphs, and we die alone."
He will also tell you about the Enemy, revealing a bit of insight:
- Enemy
- "Lord Dagon is the Enemy. He is the Prince of Destruction, and the Daedra are his servants. The Chapel is cast down, and the faithful... my friends... all dead. The Enemy has won, and we are destroyed."
On subsequent meetings, the sad priest will greet you with:
- "Why have our gods forsaken us?"
Quest-Related Dialogue[edit]
In the Deluxe Edition of Oblivion Remastered, Ilav is part of a series of quests to unlock Akatosh-themed items.
A Wound In Time[edit]
- Hope (if you didn't already start the quest via Rumors)
- "Hope is gone. The Enemy has won. In the west, people are even starting to disappear… The gods have forsaken us."
- Disappearances
- "The Divines are powerless to stop all these threats. Even as we speak, people are disappearing near Anvil and I foresee a terrible threat. One even the gods should fear. You are a noble soul and a follower of the Nine. I am a more humble priest and represent an Order that stood for Akatosh for centuries. I feel these disappearances are an insult to Akatosh's Commands. Will you investigate the ruins of Beldaburo and help us?"
Once you return from Beldaburo:
- Powerful magic
- "By Akatosh's Grace… what you describe is a Time Wound! A few years ago, an Elder Scroll was stolen from my Order. Only this relic would be powerful enough to pervert the Laws of Mundus to this extent. You must retrieve it at all costs, Hero. The Time Wound has not fully opened yet. I will give you the Order's blessing. This should allow you to breach the barrier but the rest is up to you. Be wary Hero, whoever is behind this will be a force to be reckoned with."
He will then cast his Order's blessing on you, allowing you to enter Beldaburo Anga.
Saving Time Itself[edit]
Once you return:
- "I felt it! The flow of Time is now once more in accordance with Akatosh's rules! This is truly a heroic feat, and I feel that, with your help, we might prevail against the Enemy! You are a true champion to the Nines [sic] and you shall be rewarded. You are hereby made a Paladin of the Hour and shall receive weapons and gear befitting the hero of Akatosh."
After the quest you can then ask:
- Equipment
- "What type of item do you want?"
- I'd like a weapon
- "Very well. Which category?"
- I prefer Blade weapons
- "Which type of blade weapon would you like?"
- A Claymore "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Dagger "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Longsword "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Shortsword "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- All of them "Sure thing. Anything else?"
- I prefer Blunt weapons
- "Which type of blunt weapon would you like?"
- A Battle-Axe "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Mace "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A War Axe "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Warhammer "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- I'd like all of them "Sure thing. Anything else?"
- I prefer Bows "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- I'd like an armor piece
- "Very well. Which category?"
- I prefer Heavy Armor
- "Which heavy armor piece would you like?"
- I prefer Light Armor
- "Which light armor piece would you like?"
- A Cuirass "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Helmet "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- A Shield "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- All of them "Sure thing. Anything else?"
- Boots "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- Gauntlets "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- Greaves "Here's your item, Paladin. Anything else?"
- Nevermind "Naturally."
If you return to him after completing the related quests, he will greet you with:
- "Do you want another treasure blessed by Akatosh?"
Notes[edit]
- In an in-universe letter penned by Lead Designer Ken Rolston, it was revealed that Caius Cosades once trained as a novice under Father Ilav and was concerned for his health following the sack of Kvatch.
- Ilav was at one point meant to play a role in the Main Quest. There's an unused topic that still bears his name, although there is no related dialogue. Another topic internally known as
DivineGuidanceIlav
reads "Ilva [sic] Dralgoner sent me." Based on this, it would seem that Father Ilav could've once directed you to head to the chapel, and based on other unused topics with the same Divine Guidance prefix, he likely would've asked you to communicate directly with Akatosh.
Bugs[edit]
- Once you return from Beldaburo if you speak to him from horseback, he may not be able to finish talking to you after the blessing which will prevent your UI from returning, and requires a restart of the game. ?
