Spelling[edit]

It may seem like an issue of extreme pedantry, but is it really appropriate to refer to "judgement" as a "misspelling"? Granted, it isn't the preferred (or only?) U.S. spelling, but it's not actually a misspelling in English usage outside the U.S.; I realise that the game's dialogue is written in U.S. English (even the UK "regionalized(sic)" version <_<) but the current explanation is one of those minor niggles that's perhaps not as conducive as it could be... I agree that a "sic" tag is probably necessary to prevent future mis-corrections, but perhaps not under the explanation of it being a spelling mistake.

Anyway, just a thought, and I think that my point has been sufficiently laboured now! I'll leave it be as I'm failing to come up with any helpful alternatives myself, but if anyone feels they have a more amenable phrasing... --Cbh 17:00, 31 August 2008 (EDT)

Mysterious Bottle[edit]

(from the article)

  • Upon entering his house, You will find a bottle of Surilie Brothers Wine stuck to the floor, on the rug near the fireplace. It is unable to be activated or grabbed. If made contact with another item, it may sink below the floor, pop out, or stick up. It is then able to be picked up.
We've had to remove this bottle-thing from the article before and I decided to investigate it. I have tried the bottle on all my saves (lvl 1,4,5,36 and 38) and I can pick up the bottle every time. No problems whatsoever. As I'm playing on the PS3, it would be a bit interesting to hear some other in-game experiences. Until we find a reason, or can determine WHY the bottle acts weird, I don't think it should be mentioned on the article. Krusty 10:30, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
I can't vouch for that particular bottle, but I am aware of another item that behaves in a similar fashion. In Sinkhole Cave (near the IC), in the 'pit' in the first zone with the bedrolls and the fire, there are two carrots and an apple on the ground. While you can pick up the apple and one of the carrots without problem, the other carrot - which is underneath a stool - often exhibits the same behaviour as described above for the

bottle. In the case of the carrot, I think it might be caused by its proximity to the stool. I wonder if the bottle is interacting with the rug in a similar fashion. --Gaebrial 11:29, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

(I'm the one that added the note) I looked into it, and Lazare's floor is acually lower than what you stand on. There is an invisible floor slighty above what you see. If you stand in the house and move your camera so you're looking at your feet, You're hovering above the actual floor. I'm guessing the bottle was stuck between these layers. --74.5.177.164 13:10, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
It happens to me. It may be the 360 version. I see it and I agree with the poster above, it is stuck between the two floor layers.

"Sir"[edit]

(Probably a dumb question but..) If Lazare thought he was sutch a good knight, calling himself "Sir" and dueling people, why wouldn't he want to join the knights of the nine?--Arch-Mage Matt 23:03, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Naratively speaking, the man is likely too arogant and self absorbed for any of the divines to accept him as their champion. On that same train of thought, Lazare himself would likely refuse to join a group of priestly or monkish knights who, ideally, devote their existence solely to the divines, rather than themselves. If he were in Cheydinhal, on the other hand, the Knights of the Thorn would likely accept him with open arms. Dlarsh(Talk,Contribs,E-mail) 23:11, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Article doesn't mention actually dueling Lazare...[edit]

I'm not sure if this is just on the 360, but I had dueled Lazare via a dialogue option(doesn't say "duel" explicitly, but this the result), and received no law based repercussions. Other articles on this website seem to indicate this is an unfinished quest, but with this option it seems complete. I have the PC version now, so I'll be testing it soon enough and add it to the article, unless I forget about it. — Unsigned comment by 24.11.9.103 (talk) on 2 October 2010

There's no such option in the unmodded game so if you got him to fight you it must have come from a mod. rpeh •TCE 12:57, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
XD After speaking to Lazare again, I think I know what happened. Saying "I am not of low birth" decreased his already low disposition to the point that he attacked me(or maybe it was just coincidence that it happened at the end of the convo). I think I'd been going on a killing spree at the time, so that would account for his abnormally low disposition, and if not then it might've been him allying with the townsfolk. — Unsigned comment by 24.11.9.103 (talk) at 06:25 on 4 October 2010

Safe containers[edit]

Are there any in Milvan's house. — Unsigned comment by 67.72.98.45 (talk) at 22:58 on 9 October 2010

The fastest way to find out, rather than waiting for a reply from someone, is to just empty everything out and check back 3 days plus an hour later and see what's refilled. (Alternately, you can put a "disposable" item in each, like an ingredient, and see if it disappears.) To answer your question, though, the jewelery chest in the bedroom upstairs is safe, and that's the only container in the entire house that is. Robin Hoodtalk 00:27, 10 October 2010 (UTC)

More on the rat[edit]

Just thought I'd mention the rat's soul level is considered grand rather than petty. — Unsigned comment by 68.14.147.78 (talk)

The soul is leveledL:-10, it will be Grand if character's level ≥ 28 --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 21:35, 20 December 2010 (UTC)

Moved Note[edit]

  • The recording notes for all of his dialogue say that his tone should be "aristocratic contempt; deliberately provocative". If you are wearing the Gray Cowl of Nocturnal or using 100% Chameleon it is possible to engage in limited conversation and play the persuasion minigame.

Not sure it is worth mentioning dev notes, not sure if there are previously standing decisions on there relevancy though. The other half of the note appears to have nothing to do with the previous half of it as well. Not that it would be worth mentioning either way as these are generic tricks for getting more dialogue options. If it were to be readded I would suggest that only the first half returns to the page. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:08, 17 May 2011 (UTC)

The Rat doesn't seem to be patched[edit]

The article claims that the Unofficial Oblivion Patch fixes the highly leveled rat, but I am using the patch right now (and I know it is in effect) and the rat is still there and is still incredibly strong. --173.181.104.160 16:40, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

I've removed that because I can't find any information about it on the UOP's page. Thanks for pointing it out. rpeh •TCE 16:44, 8 July 2011 (UTC)
