Dialogue[edit]
When you approach the statue, you may engage in conversation with "him".
- "I sense a visitor. Speak to me, creature."
- Where are you?
- "I am the statue, what remains of it after the desecrations of time and vandalism."
- How did you get in there?
- "I am not 'in' here, I am here. I am the statue—what's left of it—that you see before you. I have been here for thousands of years, since the heights of the power of my people, the Ayleids."
- How did that happen?
- "The statue's crafter, whose name I will not utter, bore me a grudge. As the statue was unveiled here, he magically trapped my spirit inside. I was the source of much amusement long ago."
- How so?
- "Ayleid children would torment me with constant questions. Lovers would carve their initials into me. The bored would scrawl obscene graffitti [sic] on me.
And birds. I learned to detest birds."
- What is this place?
- "These are the ruins of Fanacasecul, as any fool should know. What is known only to me is what it once was. Thousands of years ago, this was a pleasure garden of my people. Many a pleasant hour I spent here, before my nemesis ensorcelled me."
- What was so great about it?
- "Above ground was a delight of flowering trees and plants, pleasing to the eye and nose. Below ground were saunas and torture chambers, for entertaining ourselves with lesser creatures, such as yourself. All senses were enraptured in Fanacasecul."
- Can I help you?
- "I have only one desire: to be whole again. But I sense you cannot help with that. I sense neither a sculptor's spirit nor his skills. Your abilities lie elsewhere.
But if you ever encounter such, in your aimless wanderings, send him to me."- I will.
- "You do not even lie well. No matter. I have waited thousands of years, I can wait thousands more. Someone will come who can recraft me to my full glory."
