Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Speak to Urgarlag Chief-bane to get the details of this quest.
- "The Dread Cellar. A secret Imperial prison abandoned after the Empire fell. Or it was supposed to be, because rumor has it the place is now crawling with Daedra working all kinds of unholy magic. You know what Undaunted do with Daedra, don't you?"
- And if I can handle more than that?
- "Word is the Daedra are summoning some kinda Incarnate that's really stirring up the muck down in Black Marsh. Plant the Undaunted banner where you find it and send it crashing back into the dirt."
- I pledge to seek out the Dread Cellar and return Undaunted.
Once you have accepted the quest, you can enter the Dread Cellar dungeon either by accessing the dungeon through the Dungeon Finder, or heading to Blackwood and entering the dungeon there with a group. You have the choice of entering the normal dungeon or the veteran version, this choice will affect if you can achieve the optional step and your rewards.
When inside the dungeon, you will need to progress through the dungeon, slaying the following bosses, the Scorion Broodlord, Cyronin Artellian and the Magma Incarnate. With the last boss, if you are in the veteran dungeon, you have the option of placing the challenge banner to put the boss in hard mode, provided you have placed the challenge banner on every prior boss that has it available.
Once you have completed the task, you can return to Urgarlag Chief-bane at any of the Undaunted Enclaves, and speak with her to complete the quest:
- I've cleaned out the Dread Cellar.
- "Dig up any good Imperial secrets while you were burying all those Daedra? Well, save them for the campfire. I've got no time for gossip and intrigue while there are still Pledges to be paid out."
- I'll take my reward either way. / What's my reward for clearing out the Dread Cellar?
Condition | Dialogue |
---|---|
Normal mode completed | "Dirty work, mucking a bunch of foul Daedra out of a moldering prison in the swamp. But we don't shy away from messy business, do we Undaunted? Take your reward and air out your boots before the swamp rot sets in." |
Veteran mode completed | "Can't say I know what a Incarnate even is, but it sounds impressive, at least. You can tell me all about how you sent the shaky bastard back to Oblivion over drinks later. For now, take what's yours, Undaunted." |
Veteran Hard Mode completed | "Not many Undaunted can claim they've beaten a natural disaster into submission—not that Hroltar hasn't tried—but you'll be the first to have me vouch for it. Here's your prize, killer. I know who to call next time Bolgrul starts snoring." |
Notes[edit]
- Prior to Update 41, completing this quest with Normal or Veteran mode would award 1 Undaunted Key, and 2 Keys on Veteran Hard Mode.

- Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
