Susanna the Wicked

Susanna after her encounter with the Butcher

Susanna the Wicked is a Nord rogue who is usually found in Candlehearth Hall, in Windhelm. She is the fourth of the Butcher's victims during the quest Blood on the Ice.

Due to a bug, Susanna follows the same routine in Candlehearth Hall at all hours of the day.

She wears a set of tavern clothes and a pair of boots, and she carries an iron dagger, along with some common items and gold.

Rumors

Elda will mention Susanna in one of her greetings, warning you to:

"Mind you don't get fresh with Susanna. She plays the flirt, but it's just to get good tips."

Susanna is also mentioned in a book written by her co-worker Nils:

"I guess I been complaining a lot about it, cause Susanna was yelling at me. Nils, she says, if your chaurus pie is so good, you should write down the recipe."

Notes

• According to game data, her boyfriend is Kjeld the Younger. No-one in the game ever makes mention of this, however.
• Susanna's body in the beginning of Blood on the Ice, in the graveyard, is refID 000D2C9E, baseID 000D2C9D. It is disabled when you speak with Jorleif about the murders. Susanna's body on a table in the Hall of the Dead is a different NPC with refID 000D5811, baseID 000D5810.
• The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 2.1.3, adds Susanna to the TGNoPickpocketFaction to prevent Fishing Jobs from being obstructed by Blood on the Ice.

Bugs

• Susanna was supposed to work, sleep, and wander, but due to a bug in her AI packages, she will be at work for the entire game until killed.
  • The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 2.0.0, addresses this issue. (details) Her work schedule is fixed, so she will now sleep from 3am to 11am, then head outside to wander the city and get some fresh air. At 4pm, she returns to the Hall for work until midnight, when she can be found around Windhelm again.
• The guard present during Blood on the Ice says that Susanna "Served me a drink just a few nights ago" though she doesn't actually sell drinks to anyone else at the inn. She is actually set up to do so, but was never added to the appropriate faction.
  • The Unofficial Skyrim Patch, version 2.0.2, addresses this issue. (details) She will now be able to sell drinks.
• Confronting Wuunferth directly instead of turning him in, and when patrolling for the Butcher, killing him before he makes it back to Hjerim, will make Susanna's body in the Hall of the Dead stick around, rather than being cleaned up. ^?
