28 December 2003 |
- Back From The Holidays
- I've managed to survive a nice week of fun, feasts, and family and will be getting back into the swing of things
shortly (including answering the e-mail that accumulated over the holiday). I spent some spare time over the holidays
to get a good start on a MAX plugin for importing NIF files which I hope to be releasing soon, even if in a beta state.
|
|
19 December 2003 |
- Happy Holidays
- Well, m0use is back up yet again just in time for me to wish you all a happy holidays. I'll be away for a bit and won't
have internet access during that time, but feel free to e-mail me and I'll try to respond to the backlog when I return.
- Site Updates
- No real updates to the site during the past months (sorry). Work has kept me busy/travelling but I have been doing a
number of ES related things, just nothing releasable yet:
- Continuing developement of MWEdit. It's pretty much stable/good enough for me to use most of the time for plugin editting now.
I'll be working less on this in the near future in favour of other projects.
- Writting a video player for Daggerfall VID files (in cooperation with a few other people). I do have a video player for
Windows works well....sortof (silly MSVC). Once I have a few bugs worked out I'll release it.
- Finishing a major update to my Morrowind furniture plugin (dh_furn). Added around 600 more items, mostly plants, paintings,
and rugs. Also adding an interesting new merchant mechanism.
- Getting a release of the Split Infinity project out (finally found Jaga). This is a plugin that adds some 10,000 (yes, that
really many) or more weapons (and eventually that many armor and other item types) whose stat's are randomly generated
using my MWRandItem utility. The weapons module is almost complete.
- Getting more source code for Daggerfall/Morrowind available via SourceForge.net. I've put the NIF source/program into the
MWEdit project and created a new DF project for all my Daggerfall source code.
- Since m0use has been going up and down like a yo-yo recently, I've been looking into getting a backup of the site available
so people can still access all the information when m0use goes down next.
- Writing a NIF importer/convertor for 3DS (both stand-alone and as a MAX plugin).
Well, that should keep me busy for the next 3 or 4 years at least, perhaps in time for Elder Scrolls Chapter 4!
|
|
15 November 2003 |
- New Bethesda Project
- Dalin over at Morrowind Summit posted an interesting
short blurb about his visit to Bethesda recently. He says
what I saw (even taking into consideration its very early development life), was nothing short of phenomenal
which certainly whets the curiousity. Hopefully we'll learn some more specifics of what they're up in the coming
months.
- Site Updates
- The usual plethora of updates in the Morrowind hints/walkthroughs. Been busy/ill the past
week or so and haven't been able to spend as much time on things as usual. Still been working on
various things including NIFTexture, MWEdit, and a large update to my furniture plugin as well
as the usual site stuff.
|
|
2 November 2003 |
- Game of the Year Edition Available
- I received my GOTY today along with the updated hint guide (which looks to be a big improvement over the
original hint book). I won't be adding a special section on the site for the GOTY since it is essentially just the
original game plus the two expansions. Any significant content or quest changes that might be found in it will be
added as notes to the existing hint/walkthrough pages. Undoubtably (or hopefully) Bethesda managed to get it some bug fixes and
possibly a little extra content in there.
- Site Updates
- The usual updates all over the place in the Morrowind related pages. Rather large update to the
Morrowind Script Functions page. Finally updated
the function link list with Bloodmoon functions (I added the functions a while ago but forgot about the links at
the top). Also updated many functions with recently discovered notes (mainly from the official Construction Set
forum which is a great source of information).
- NifTexture v1.3
- Another small update to NIFTexture v1.3 (80 kb)
with the addition of being able to adjust the base colors of the materials used in the NIF file. This helps
fix NIFs affected to the blue tint bug.
|
|
27 October 2003 |
- NifTexture v1.2
- I've finally got around to an update for NIFTexture v1.2 (80 kb).
I got it working with many more NIF files that it couldn't load previously and added an option to easily retexture multiple
NIF files by using CSV files (which can be output by most spreadsheet apps).
|
|
25 October 2003 |
- Updates
- Some minor updates in various places as I was out in Montreal last week for some work. Added the
Morrowind Spell Merchants page which lists all
the NPCs offering spells sorted by the magic effect.
|
|
15 October 2003 |
- Updates
- A few small updates to Morrowind and related quests/hints etc... Been mainly working on MWEdit as well as an update to
my furniture plugin. Have added CSV import/export to the editor as well as script templates, script function tooltips, and
a bunch of smaller things that increase usability. I've been using the editor to work on my furniture mod so its been getting
a good workout. Most things are definitely easier and faster to do in MWEdit than TESCS so it seems all the time I've spent on
it is not entirely wasted...:)
|
|
5 October 2003 |
- Updates
- Honestly, I've forgotten what pages I worked on over the past two months. I know I worked on the
Bloodmoon Quest Walkthrough a
bunch and finished most of the misc. quests. Also, the MW Scripting Functions
with the usual updates/corrections and the new Bloodmoon functions.
- MWEdit Beta v0.5 Released
- I've finally done enough bug fixing and testing to be able to release the editor as a beta.
Check it out mwedit.sf.net. The source code includes classes
for easily loading and dealing with ESP/ESM files which may be of interest to other MW developers.
|
|
29 September 2003 |
- We're Back...Again
- m0use is finally back online after a 'little' trouble with some network settings. Thanks to all who were working
to get it back. I'll be uploading a few updates I worked on during the downtime shortly.
- MWEdit on Sourceforge
- I've moved the alternate Morrowind editor I've been playing with over to SourceForge.net.
The home page at mwedit.sf.net is rather empty at the moment and just links to the
MWEdit Project Page. I moved over so I could take advantage of the CVS, file distribution, bug
tracking and all the other useful stuff SF offers (and for free to boot). MWEdit will hopefully enter the v0.5 Beta release once
I do a little testing and fixing the major bugs and feature omissions. For those that haven't seen it since the original
v0.10 release, a great deal has been improved since then.
|
|
10 August 2003 |
- Updates
- Quickly finished the Carnuis side of the colony quests on the Raven Rock Colony Quests
page. Next up are all the Misc. quests in the expansion. Also, I've finally figured out how to telnet
into m0use once again (don't ask) thanks to Softwind so I can now update the few CGI scripts I use. I've already updated
the search script so it will search all the files, not just the first 500 as it previously was.
|
|
9 August 2003 |
- Updates
- Finally added the Werewolf specific quests to the Bloodmoon Main Quest
page. Will work on the alternate Colony quests that I missed and then all the Misc quests.
|
|
4 August 2003 |
- Updates
- Bunch of updates all over the site, mostly in the Morrowind and Bloodmoon hints and walkthrough areas.
I've created a quick character in Morrowind so I can do the two quest lines I missed in Bloodmoon (become a
Werewolf in the main quest and work to destroy the colony in the Raven Rock quests).
|
|
4 August 2003 |
- Back...
- I'm now back from my vacation and can start answering all those e-mails and get back to doing some updates
for the site. I'd like to say I'll answer all 300+ e-mails but realistically I simply can't. If you don't get a
reply you can always resend it. In addition to the usual site stuff I'd like to finish up my Morrowind editor
and get another version out the door in a few weeks (has almost been finished for a while).
|
|
4 July 2003 |
- Updates
- A number of updates all over the place, mainly in the Morrowind and expansion
quest walkthroughs. Still am missing a good portion of the Bloodmoon quests unfortunately
as I haven't had much chance to play it the past few weeks.
Updated MWRandItem v1.7 (180 kb)
which hasa number of improvements over the last version.
- Vacation!
- I'm off on a 3-week vacation so there'll be no updates during that time. Similarily, I
will not be able to answer any e-mail until I return.
|
|
22 June 2003 |
- Updates
- Finished most of the
Bloodmoon Colony Quest Walkthrough
with the exception of the Carnius specific quests after you take his side.
|
|
17 June 2003 |
- Updates
- More updates all over the place. In particular, I started the
Bloodmoon Colony Quest Walkthrough
with more walkthroughs coming this week I hope.
|
|
12 June 2003 |
- MW Random Item Generator
- Another small update to MWRandItem v1.2 (120 kb),
that fixes a few minor bugs and adds a couple small features.
- MW Map
- Finally got around to adding the travel lines to the Morrowind Online Map.
Still haven't got a good background map of Bloodmoon yet as I haven't had time to play the game in a few days..:(
|
|
10 June 2003 |
- Updates
- More small updates all over the place as I spent the evening going through and replied to
the e-mail that collected over the past week.
|
|
9 June 2003 |
- Bloodmoon
- Finished the Bloodmoon Quest Walkthroughs for the main
quest and will continue on for the colony quests and any misc quests. Many thanks for all the Bloodmoon
related tips. As usual, during this busy time it may take me a while to get them up on the site, but
I will use them eventually.
|
|
8 June 2003 |
- Bloodmoon
- Started putting together the Bloodmoon Quest Walkthroughs
as I play through the game. I've also updated the Morrowind Map with all
Bloodmoon locations. The background image is still rather rough but I'll update it eventually.
Expect continual updates to it in the coming week(s).
- Other Things
- Minor update to the MW RandItem, v1.1 (120 kb)
program. Since m0use is back to working again, I'm starting to get a lot more e-mail. I always try
to respond to each one though it just may take some time, especially now with Bloodmoon just out.
|
|
7 June 2003 |
- Bloodmoon
- BloodMoon is out so if you haven't picked it up yet, what are you waiting for. My pre-order hasn't
yet arrived up here in the Great White North so I was 'forced' to pickup a copy at Future Shop. I'll
be playing through the game and writing up walkthroughs and tips as I go. Feel free to send me any
BloodMoon related tips as well.
- Other News
- Bethesda has a new Team Diary
on its site about the creation of paper maps. It's a good read so be sure to check it out. Also be
sure to check out ES Travels which
is the official site for an Elder Scrolls games for hand-helds.
- Other Things
- A number of things should be updated shortly if I don't get too involved in BloodMoon. I've received
a number of good updates to the script function list and the Morrowind Random Item generator should get
a minor update as well. I have started working on a way to export the Daggerfall map data to Morrowind
but don't expect anything for a while yet (should be possibly if not time consuming).
|
|
1 June 2003 |
- m0use is Back
- The m0use.net domain has mysteriously returned in the past week so this site (and any site
on m0use) can again be accessed using the www.m0use.net address. Thanks to whoever managed to
get it work again (let me know if you know what happened).
- Travel...Again
- I'm off for yet another week of work related travel, this time down to San Diego and San Fransisco.
Hopefully Bloodmoon will be waiting for me when I return...
|
|
27 May 2003 |
- Bloodmoon Gone Gold!
- Bethesda recently announced that the Morrowind expansion has gone gold and should be
shipped and hitting stores soon.
- MW Random Item Generator
- I've released the first version of a simple utility, MWRandItem (120 kb),
that outputs random items (weapons, armor, clothing) based on a given set of base items and effects
(suffixes and prefixes). The generated items are similar to the Diablo system of item generation
(ie: Godly Daedric Dai-Katana of Hate). The included items and effects can generate over 5 million
different items (each of which can have minor variations) and you can add more as desired.
|
|
21 May 2003 |
- E3 Bethesda News
- There's a short but informative writeup of Bethesda's booth at E3
on DailyGame.
Gives some news on Bethesda's upcoming games including Bloodmoon, Pirates of the
Caribbean and Call of the Cthulhu.
|
|
20 May 2003 |
- Morrowind Furniture Plugin Update
- A small update to the Morrowind Furniture Store Mod v1.6, 1.9 MB.
Corrected a major bug with the harvestable plants which prevented them from working v1.5. Also corrected a bug with the container rings
which was causing a CTD if you used more than one (the container rings have changed the way they work to prevent this). The usual smaller
fixes and improvements here and there (you should have no problem with save games upgrading from v1.5 or v1.0). Let me know if any
further problems or suggestions with it.
|
|
17 May 2003 |
- Daggerfall Installer Update
- I've updated the DF Install (1.4 MB) to
correct a minor bug. I forgot to create the SAVE0-SAVE5 folders so you cannot save your games before you create
these paths.
|
|
10 May 2003 |
- Bloodmoon News
- It appears that Bloodmoon is well on its way. You can pre-order it now directly from the
Bethesda Store and some press copies have made their way out of
the company and into hands such as Morrowind Summit which
has some brief comments on it (very positive as you might guess). There was also a press release stating that
Lynda Carter has returned to perform some of the Female Nord voices for the expansion.
- Morrowind XBox Game-Of-The-Year Edition
- Bethesda has announced that they will be released a Game-Of-The-Year
edition of Morrowind for the XBox. The game will include both the Tribunal and Bloodmoon expansions and assumably any
bug fixes that are needed. Great news for all those XBox players.
- Site Updates
- More updates on the World of Tamriel section, mainly the Gods and
Guilds this time. Also finally realized I hadn't linked the MW ESM Format
text document from anywhere (it's only been on the site for a year, hehe). Also finally updated the site bar so it'll work
correctly. Changed the recent page list to a favorite page list that you can add pages to manually so you can quickly
jump to your favorite pages within the site.
I've also released the MW ESP C++ Source Code
which any programmers can use to load/save/edit ESP/ESS/ESM files. Not sure if anyone is going to actually find it useful,
but I tend to see alot of questions on the MW Forums about the ESM/... formats and related utilities. Releasing the source
code for the ESM/... files is much faster than having to create a complete ESM/... format document (I have the basic
format in a text file, but lots of little things in the code itself haven't made it into the text document yet).
Anyways, its there if you need it, and, as usual, let me know if you like it or not.
- Travel Again
- Been travelling around the US a lot the past few months for work and I'll be down in Arkansas for the next week
so don't expect any timely e-mail replies or site updates.
|
|
4 May 2003 |
- Site Updates
- I've started updating the World of Tamriel area with all the
Morrowind content. I also fixed the online Tamriel map which was having problems due to the m0use.net DNS troubles.
I'll be continuing the Tamriel updates in the near future. I'm also trying to solve the long time m0use.net DNS
problem by tracking down Softwind and ShadowJack. If you know their current contact information I'd be glad to hear
from you.
|
|
22 April 2003 |
- Daggerfall Installer
- For all those people playing Daggerfall, I've finally gotten it together and released the
DF Install (1.4 MB) which allows you to install
the game from the CD (or hard drive copy) under modern Windows versions (the old DOS installer has problems sometimes) and
includes the v2.13 patch. It has actually been almost done for a few months but I got sidetracked somewhere along the way and
forgot about it.
|
|
21 April 2003 |
- Official News
- The Official Site has been updated in the past week showing some new
Bloodmoon Screenshots, which are looking
great, as well as a new Bloodmoon Interview
that gives a good overview of the expansion.
- Site News
- I've just returned from another trip down to the states so there's not a whole lot to update just yet. I've received a nice
MW Travel Map (nice job whoever did this originally).
|
|
29 March 2003 |
- Morrowind Script Functions
- I've completed a big update of the MW Script Functions reference
page, adding the things that were missing (like all the console commands and special globals) as well as updating many of the function
descriptions. Feel free to submit any experience you have with scripting that might be useful.
|
|
14 March 2003 |
- Furniture Plugin Update
- Many thanks to Ryan Scott who graciously informed me I left out my armor mannequin mesh and texture files from the
MW Furniture Plugin v1.5 (1.9 MB).
|
|
13 March 2003 |
- Site Updates
- I'm back from a short trip down to the US and have few mentionable updates besides the usual small things
everywhere. I've finally gotten around to uploading my MW Furniture Plugin v1.5 (1.6 MB)
which has been done for a while (not thoroughly tested so let me know of any bugs or suggestions). This version adds
lots of new things besides furniture such as armor mannequins, placable containers, harvestable plants, a variety of empty
houses you can buy and some more interesting things. Download and view the readme file for more information.
I'm continuing work on MWEdit (alternate plugin editor for Morrowind) slowly and should have another, fuller, release
in a week or two.
Remember that m0use.net is still having problems so need to use the IP address http://12.145.63.45
for accessing anything on m0use.net (including e-mails). Use my alternate primary email uesp@sympatico.ca
to contact me.
- Bloodmoon
- If you haven't checked out the Official Site in the past month, Bethesda
has announced a new Morrowind expansion pack, Bloodmoon (although we all knew something was coming). Bloodmoon will add a large
outdoor island for exploration and will include the option to become a werewolf and do some adventuring in the snow (very nice).
Check out the new Bloodmoon Section of the site for more information.
|
|
1 March 2003 |
- Site Updates
- Sorry about the lack of updates lately but I've been either busy at work or on my new pet project,
MWEdit v0.10, a new and hopefully improved
Morrowind plugin editor. This version is simple a test release so expect some missing features and the odd bug.
If your download manager has problems with the above link, try MWEdit v0.10.
|
|
27 January 2003 |
- Site Updates
- I've been working on the usual updates here, there, and everywhere, mostly Morrowind and Tribunal stuff.
Work has been busy the past few weeks so I haven't been able to work on much else unfortunately.
|
|
12 January 2003 |
- Site Updates
- The usual small updates in the Morrowind and Tribunal sections.
- Furniture Plugin
- My furniture mod for Morrowind has been pretty well received and I've been spending most of my time working on it,
correcting the various bugs and adding things people have suggested.
- Removed the moving/rotating of items as the changes are not saved (no workaround). Instead the items have been editted
so they are at a 'nice position' when dropped.
- Add 40 or so plants, trees and other vegetation. Includes 20 or so ingrediant plants that you can harvest every so often
for alchemic ingrediants.
- Added lights and fires to the NPC merchants.
- Added one time placeable containers which are added at your current position using magic rings.
- Includes a house mod where you can buy a variety of empty homes across the island.
- Added another furniture store in Hla Oad (Balmora tends to get crowded).
- Add another shop close to Hla Oad that sells a variety of strange objects such as Armor Dummies, summonable lockpicks, probes,
and repair hammers, and other one of a kind items (finally a place to spend all your millions).
Will still be another week or two till the mod is in a state to be released, though if you are interested in testing it, just
send me a note.
|
|
4 January 2003 |
- Site Updates
- Updated the Links page, removing all the bad links and adding all the new
sites that I could find. Let me know if I've missed any. Finally found a nice, small utility to convert those Daggerfall
HMI music files (MIDI.BSA) into MIDI (WINRipper, 28 kb).
And, of course, the usual small things here and there.
|
|
2 January 2003 |
- NIFTexture Utility
- I've released the first version of a simple utility, NIFTexture
which allows you to load NIF files and modify the textures that they use. Great for retexturing existing NIF models and
beats having to hexedit them. The utility currently can load about 99.9% of typical NIF files (6 failures in the 6000 or so NIF
files on my computer), mainly due to the complex format of the NIF file.
- Site Updates
- Added the MW Item Table and
the Tribunal Item Table pages
listing all the items in the game/expansion due to many requests for such a page. Also beening playing around with JavaScript/Cookies
to add the site bar that you might see at the top of the screen.
- Things To Do
- I have a number of things I plan to work on in the immediate future (in no particular order):
- Update links, Morrowind links in particular are lacking.
- World of Tamriel overhaul, tons of Morrowind specific info to add and the online Tamriel
map hasn't been worked on since I added it way back when.
- Find a way for the site downloads to work properly with download managers.
- Work on the NIF format to try and get simple conversion to 3DS files.
- Update Windows page for installation of Arena/Redguard on various platforms.
- Add pictures to MW/Tribunal artifacts page.
- Create a better list of locations to buy specific MW spells.
- Add unofficial MW utilities to the files page.
- Add MW plugins via some sort of database. I know lots of other sites already do this but I would like
to have them as well for the future when those sites may not be available. I also think I can
improve on the database and presentation of plugins.
- Improve the online site search function.
- Add walkthrough info for the official plugins.
- Simple reviews of other RPGs and related games.
- Still tons of little MW hints/walkthrough items to add and edit.
That should keep me busy for the next couple years or so, hehe.
Some of the above items can be done by anyone if you're looking for something to do in the holidays.
|
|
30 December 2002 |
- Server Problems
- As you may have noticed, m0use.net has been having problems the past few weeks and was available for most of
that time. Have no fears as the problems are being worked on and we'll still be around for a while yet. There are
still a few problems resolving the m0use.net domain from some computers (I can reach it at work but not at home).
If you have problems try using the IP address http://12.145.63.45.
- Site Updates
- The usual small smattering of updates here are there, mostly in the Morrowind and Tribunal sections. I've added
an exhaustive MW Script Functions reference page for all
those trying to figure out what GetPlayerLookingDisabled really does. I think I got most of the functions but I have
a feeling I've forgotten a few undocumented/rarely used functions. Let me know of any errors or omissions as usual.
Also added a few general scripting tips to the MW Scripting page.
|
|
5 December 2002 |
- Dave Furniture Plugin
- I've finally got it together and released my Furniture Plugin (410 kb)
for Morrowind. It adds over 200 furniture items that you can pick up and move around allowing you to design your own house (if you
can find/make an empty one). If you like it (or not)...let me know!
|
|
4 December 2002 |
- Site Updates
- The usual updates continue, mainly in the Tribunal Quest Walkthroughs.
I've also added a section in the Windows Game Tips page for getting Daggerfall to run
under WindowsXP (wasn't as difficult I had thought it would be).
|
|
1 December 2002 |
- Site Updates
- Over the past weeks I've been working on the Tribunal Quest Walkthroughs
and have most of it close to completed (thanks to the many people who have been sending me Tribunal info). There's still a few missing
parts here and there, like which of the main quests for the Temple/King are optional and required. Also a few minor updates to
Morrowind pages here and there.
|
|
19 November 2002 |
- Tribunal
- Well after a quick surprise trip down to San Diego, I returned home to find my pre-ordered
Tribunal expansion pack waiting for me. I've created a new Tribunal
section on the website for all the hints, tips, etc... for the expansion. I'll be playing through it
and creating a walkthrough and things as I go, so look for continual updates over the next few weeks.
- E-Mails and Contact
- I'm falling way behind on answering all the e-mails I get and I greatly appreciate all of them,
so please don't feel ignored if you don't get a reply. Real life and all that prevents me from spending
more time to answer them all.
|
|
23 October 2002 |
- Updates
- Just looked at the site and realized I hadn't uploaded any updates in the past month...
oops! I have been doing things here and there though, mostly little corrections in a bunch of
different corrections. Many thanks for all the support and tips that everyone is sending in
(I do try to answer them all).
|
|
28 September 2002 |
- Short Trip
- Just letting you know I'm off for one week on another work trip to Phoenix, Arizona.
Will try and get another batch of updates done while I'm down there.
|
|
14 September 2002 |
- Back from Trip
- I'm back from trip at last and have a load of Morrowind updates I managed to get done during my spare time.
Finished the Quest Walkthroughs at last, in particular
the Misc Quests and Vampires
(including all kinds of Vampires tips and hints as well). Updated the Artifacts
page to include the location of all the artifacts, added a few more, and created the Item Locations
to give the locations of more mundane things like Daedric weapons and armour. Lots more smaller updates here and there.
- Official News
- A number of interesting items on the official front in case you missed them. Bethesda announces that they are
creating a sequel to Morrowind, Tribunal, which should be out around November. Another official mod has also
been released, The Seige of Firemoth, which looks interesting. For more details and all the latest official news,
be sure to check out the Official Site.
- Future Updates
- Well, I have even more e-mails to answer now (just don't ask how many) so I might have to lock myself in my apartment
for a few days to answer them all. I'll be working on putting the finishing touches on all the quest walkthroughs, including
a map of location for each quest (some are already done like the main quest) and adding tips contributed by people. I'm also
working on a number of smallish plug-ins which have been going for some time that I should probably release at some point.
|
|
19 August 2002 |
- Trip
- Well, I'm finally off on my business trip to Africa for the next three to four week, so don't expect
any updates or replies to e-mails from me during that time. I'm going to try and work on some walkthroughs
during my spare time on the trip, but we'll see.
|
|
12 August 2002 |
- Morrowind Walkthrough
- Finished the last of the major walkthroughs for Morrowind,
the House Telvanni Quests. Now I just
have to do the Vampire quests, all the Misc. quests, and double-check all the other walkthroughs, and...
ahh stuff it, I'm going to bed!
|
|
11 August 2002 |
- Morrowind Interactive Map
- The interactive map of Morrowind, based off of the Online Map
has been updated. Download the Interactive Map (434 kb)
or the HiRes Interactive Map (2.6 Mb). For more
information on this version, check out the Readme File.
|
|
9 August 2002 |
- Site Updates
- Finished the Morrowind House Redoran Quests
walkthrough. For some reason they seemed to have more quests than the other factions, but it could
be just me. That just leaves the Telvanni quests as the last faction to do (other than the Vampire and
Misc quests which will take a while themselves) which I should get up on the weekend.
- Morrowind Quest Walkthrough
- I've quickly converted all the Morrowind quest pages to text files and put them into a
Walkthrough Text ZIP (140 kb)
as requested by a number of people over the past weeks and months.
The conversion program did a reasonable job, but still rather messy in places, but I'm not going to
bother fine tuning the text pages until the walkthroughs are closer to being finished. Suggestions
and comments on how to do this better are welcome.
- New Morrowind Site
- Check out Steve's Morrowind Journal for a
nice journal of his character in the game along with some screenshots.
|
|
5 August 2002 |
- Site Updates
- Finally mananged to get some Morrowind content updated, including the
Imperial Legion Quests and
House Hlaalu Quests walkthroughs.
Will continue working the Redoran and Telvanni walkthroughs and keep replying to the some 300
e-mails left in my inbox (100 or so done so far).

2 August 2002 |
- Trip Delayed
- Well, my trip to Africa has been delayed until sometime next week so I may just get a chance to
answer all those e-mails finally and even update the site (since this is a long weekend up here in
Canada). So, if you're still waiting for me to reply to an e-mail you sent me, you should receive
a reply shortly. Thanks!

25 July 2002 |
- There's Good News, and Bad News
- Well, the good news is I'm finally back from my vacation, bad news is I'm being shipped off to
Africa for some work for a few weeks, leaving precious little time to work on the site unfortunately.
Some more bad news...I came back to more than 350 e-mails in my inbox, but the good news is that only
about 30 of them were spam and viruses (sigh), of course the bad news is that I have to try and reply to
320 e-mails before I leave. Thanks to all for your questions and contributions, and I'll do my best
to respond to them over the weekend and update the site as I can.
|
|
3 July 2002 |
- Vacation Time
- I'm afraid to say that I'll be off on vacation for the next three weeks. Since I don't have
(and wouldn't want) internet access during that time, any updates are going to have to wait until
I get back. Terribly sorry for the delay, but thanks to everyone for all your excellent feedback
and questions lately.
|
|
30 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Update
- Completed the rough draft of several quest walkthroughs,
Morag Tong
Imperial Cult and the
Temple. I'll try and get a few more
rough walkthroughs up in the next few days.

25 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Map Update
- I've finally tracked down the bug in the JAVA code of the Morrowind Online Map.
It turns out that some versions of JAVA do not handle the Rectangle.intersects(Polygon) method properly for polygons with only
one point, which basically prevented all the Morrowind locations from displaying....sigh (ain't technology wonderful?). Anyways,
I've also updated the Morrowind HiRes Map (2.2 MB) and the
Morrowind Offline Map (120 kb). If you want to update
the HiRes offline map but want a quicker download, just download the small map version and copy over all the .class files into the
hires directory (only the background map is changed between the two). Let me know of any other difficulties with the map.
- New Morrowind Map Program
- On a related note, Lech March has taken the offline/site JAVA map
and turned it into an executable program with a bit nicer interface. Download the regular size
Morrowind Map Program (373 kb) or the
HiRes Map Program (1.8 MB). It's an excellent
program and a must for anyone who needs directions frequently.
- Site Visitors Record
- I just noticed the site passed a new record of a total 3265 unique visitors in one day a few weeks ago (which
flew by the previous record of around 500 hits in one day). Lately it's been around 2000 hits per day which is still
much more than I've seen in the good ole' days of Daggerfall and Redguard.

23 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Updates
- A bunch of content updated in the Morrowind pages.
|
|
22 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Patch Virus Warning
- IMPORTANT NOTICE: The official patch I uploaded yesterday contained the virus W95.Space due to
a recent infection on my system. Thanks for all who informed me of the fact. My system has been
cleaned and a proper patch file has been uploaded. If you require any help or information in getting
rid of the virus, please do not hesitate to Contact Me.
All the commonly used AntiVirus programs should be able to detect and remove the virus easily.
I'm terribly sorry for the inconvience for those who downloaded the infected file and I have purchased
the excellent McAffee VirusScan program to ensure I don't pass on any more viruses in the future.
Though I'm not certain I caught the virus, I'm pretty sure its related to using Kazaa for time.

Patch Readme for more information.

and 3DS Max v3.1 Exporter for creating NIF files to
use in the game. Great news for the expanding modding community.

20 June 2002 |
- M0use Upset
- M0use had a little hiccup but is back for the moment so I should get a few updates in
the next few days. If you tried to contact me at my m0use.net e-mail in the last week, chances
are I didn't get it. You can always try my alternate e-mail,
uesp@sympatico.ca anytime there's a problem with this server.
|
|
8 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Updates
- Bunch of new Morrowind stuff including
Morrowind Monsters,
Morrowind Artifacts,
Morrowind Magic Effects, and
Morrowind Alchemy. Hopefully I'll
get some more walkthroughs up soon as well.

4 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Map Update
- Bunch of updates related to the MW Interactive Map
which has been well received...thanks for all your comments and input. Improved the background image, cleaned
up the location database (shortened town towns and removed duplicate entrances), added simple text display to
indicate a file is being loaded (any JAVA expert know how to get better dynamic feedback during an image load?),
changed the font display for more compatibility between systems, and modified it slightly to allow for offline
viewing.
You can grab the MW Offline Map (120 kb) ZIP
which you just extract into a directory and run as you want. Its identical to the online version on the site but
it will be a whole lot faster for those with slow connections. You can also download the much larger
MW HiRes Map (2.2 MB) which is the same
map but with a very large background image (3500x4000) for better feedback (you can see just about all buildings
and the locations actually match up pretty good so far).
A few more updates to the map including possibly sorting locations by type and showing travel routes. Enjoy....
- Morrowind Submissions...Thanks!
- Many thanks to all those submitting Morrowind hints, walkthroughs, and everything else. Though it may take
a while to get on the site, its all added to my ever increasing TODO list which will be eventually emptied. My
free time the past week or two has been limited so updates have been slower than I'd like.
|
|
1 June 2002 |
- Morrowind Map
- I've been playing around with an exciting new MW Interactive Map
which allows you to do a simple search for exterior locations in the game. Try it out, and see how it
works (and let me know if it doesn't as I'm no JAVA guru).

- Main Quest Walkthrough News
- As some of you have already noticed, I've managed to sneak on the
Morrowind Main Quest Walkthrough to the site.
It should cover all parts of the main quest, but feel free to send me any additions or corrections.
I will continue working on the various guild quests and get those up when I can.
|
|
12 May 2002 |
- Site News
- Well, as you may have guessed, I've been tucked away playing Morrowind the past week and
a half or so, so sorry for the lack of updates (lots to do and only so much time unfortunately).
Watch for slow updates on MW hints, files, etc... over the coming months (feel free to contribute
any tips by E-Mailing Me).
- Updates
- Added general performance tips to the MW Tech
page. Created the MW Merchants,
MW Spell Merchants, and
MW Trainers pages listing the various people
offering those services in the game (though there's still lots to be added since I'm not close to
exploring the whole Island yet). Added the MW NOCD
hack to the files page (disables the SafeDisk copy protection to improve performance slightly).
Added a list of common console cheats to the MW Cheat
page.

5 April 2002 |
- Morrowind Previews
- Check out the Official Morrowind Site for all
sorts of of previews from the beta version of the game which many game sites have got their
hands on...sounds just as good as we'd hoped.
- Updates
- Fixed some problems with downloadable files such as the Redguard demo which could
not be downloaded before. Let me know if you find any other files that have problems
being downloaded. Also did some corrections and added some content to a bunch of pages.
- Windows and DOS Games
- Added the Windows and DOS Games page containing
various tips on getting the older Elder Scrolls games to run under the various versions
of Windows. Since I only am running Windows 98 here at home, I'd appreciate contributions on
getting Arena/Daggerfall etc... running under various other OSes as well (particularily XP and
2000).

|
8 March 2002 |
- Morrowind PreOrder
- The Official Morrowind Site has its usual score of
Friday update, including the announcement that you can now pre-order game, including the collector's
edition and hint manual.
- New Daggerfall Files
- Two new interesting DF files have been added to the site, the
Live By the Sword quest pack adds five
nice new quests for the fighters guild and DFto3DS,
a developement edition of the Windows utility to convert DF 3D objects in ARCH3D.BSA to 3DS and DXF
format files.
|
|
1 February 2002 |
- Morrowind Site Update
- The Official Morrowind Site has had its usual Friday update.
This week includes a new wallpaper of the city of Ald'Ruhn and a new Codex section about Potion Ingrediants.
|
|
27 January 2002 |
- Contact Form Working
- The Contact Form is now working again. The e-mail program
on m0use was changed recently so anything sent over the past week or so probably didn't get to me.
|
|
26 January 2002 |
- Site Update
- Will be updating most pages throughout the site this coming week as I'm finally back
home and have the time for a little bit. No major changes for just tweaking things that
I've been meaning to do for a while. If you have any requests, ideas, or comments, feel
free to Let Me Know.
- Arena/Daggerfall Windows Pages
- Put a bunch more tips on the Arena Win95 page on
getting Arena/Daggerfall running on the various Windows versions. It seems that some people have gotten
the games going on most Windows platforms, though its certainly not easy. Let me know if you have any
more tips on this as I continue to try and get more information.
- Morrowind Merchandise
- A bunch of new stuff is available for sale at the Morrowind Site
such as mugs, t-shirts, and hats in a large variety of styles. Get'em while you can as you can be sure they will
be a hot item.
|
|
13 September 2001 |
- Tamriel Map
- The Tamriel Map in the
World of Tamriel section has finally had
its face lift. It has been converted from a CGI script to a JAVA applet which I feel
makes it work much better. Now, once the applet and data files are downloaded the map
can be zoomed in/out and panned very fast (rather than having to wait for a GIF image to
load like in the previous version). The map is still rough and needs a bunch of locations
to be added, but feel free to have a look and let me know what you think.
NOTE: I have managed to test it successfully though I noticed a few minor bugs and other
things which will be improved shortly I hope.
- Daggerfall Stores
- The DF Stores page has
been changed from a CGI script to just a simple web page for easier maintaining.

|
10 August 2001 |
- Morrowind News
- The Official Morrowind Site
has been updated with three new X-Box screenshots, a new fiction book and an
Ogrim wallpaper, so check it out...
|
|
5 August 2001 |
- Morrowind News
- The game seems to be coming along very nicely now. If you aren't regularily
checking out the Official Morrowind Site
you should do so. It is usually updated weekly with new screenshots, wallpaper, preview
links, interviews and all sorts of other interesting stuff. Also check out the forum
there for interesting Morrowind and Elder Scrolls discussions.
- Site News
- Updating the site a bit while I'm back in Canada for a few weeks of well deserved
vacation. Fixed the World of Tamriel
section which was not copied over during the server change. Everything there should be
be working now except for a couple of scripts (including the geography map which may
not be working for a while). I think I have fixed or uploaded all missing files since
the server change though a few scripts may have to be fixed yet. Let me know if I missed
anything. I've noticed a bunch of links to outside sites which are broken which I'll
try to update the next week or so. Feel free to let me know of any Elder Scroll related
site I'm missing, especially Morrowind related.
- Site Future
- I've received a number of e-mails over the past months wondering if the site will
remain around for a while and if I'm still intending to update it regularily. As some
of you may know already, the past year and a half or so I've been working over in Africa
for my company inspecting water pipelines and have had limited internet access. Hopefully
in the coming year I will have more time over in North America to update the site more
regularily, especially with the upcoming release of Morrowind. So, have no fear, the site
will be around for a while yet and hopefully with more updates. Again, feel free to
e-mail me any comments about the site (again, my reply times may be irregular). Thanks!
|
|
16 June 2001 |
- Site Fix
- Thanks for all those who e-mailed me about the obvious site problems the past
few weeks. A few imporant HTML files went missing after the past changes on m0use
which should be fixed. I'll be checking and fixing the rest of the site as my
internet connection and my time permits (still out here in Africa).
|
|
27 March 2001 |
- Personal News
- Nothing much too new in my life as I continue to work here in North Africa. The lack of
internet is frustrating at time but I still get on enough to catch the latest Morrowind news
and forum topics. Still looking foward to returning to my ADSL line back home...sigh.
- Site Corrections
- A few links fixed over in the World of Tamriel area
thanks to one kind soul with no e-mail. That's what happens when you edit SHTML files with
no way of checking links till you upload once a month with a 4800 baud connection that, on
average, gets connected 1 try out of 100 and then only for 5 minutes and before you have a
chance to double check the 2kb of pages you spent 4 minutes uploading...er....sorry, but I
do feel a bit better now...honest!
- Morrowind Developer Chat
- Kathode over at Destination Morrowind
is arranging another developer chat on April 4th. The relevant info is as follows:
Thursday, April 4th
8PM EST (that's GMT -05:00)
irc.gamesnet.net
channel #Morrowind
I'll make it if I can coax (sp?) my internet connection into service at the time (3AM here).
- Morrowind News
- Not a whole lot of official game news over the past month other than the usual hint dropping and
teasing by the devs over at the message board of Morrowind.com.
Some tantilizing hints about real time shadows in the game but no new screenshots that I'm aware of.
Be sure to check out artist's Make Jones web site, Dragons Eyrie
(I hope the link works), for some nice graphics and the usually vague journal about his work on the game.
Keep an eye out for a new www.bethsoft.com and
www.elderscrolls.com in the next few weeks with most
likely some information on Morrowind.

|
23 February 2001 |
- Daedric TrueType Font
- I've created a Daedric Truetype font
from the back of the Battlespire manual. Now you all can create cryptic messages like the
following:
I'll let you have the joy of figuring out what it says...
- Russian Morrowind Site
- For any of you Russion fans, don't forget to check out the Russian
Morrowind site at www.morrowind.ag.ru.
- Site Reminder
- Just a personal reminder that the lack of regular updates the past year is due to me working in North
Africa over the past year. Unfortunately, the internet access doesn't permit me to connect regularily.
I still have all intentions to keep the site up and pick up with the regular updates once I return home to
Canada sometime this summer (or around then). Similarily, any e-mails you send me will be answered...sometime,
just be patient. Thanks...

|
29 November 2000 |
- IRC Developer Chat
- If you missed the developer chat recently, be sure to check out the the
Editing Chat Log
over at Destination Morrowind.
- Files Update
- A kind person noted that the text files I uploaded recently were cut short near the
end for some reason. I've uploaded them again and everything appears to be fine this time.
This affected Image Formats,
BSA Files, and
Woods.WLD.
- TESGurus News
- I've heard that TESGurus isn't permanently gone, its just vacationing for a short while
but should be back sometime soon.
|
|
29 November 2000 |
- Morrowind News
- Not too much on the official Morrowind news front. A short preview/interview can be found in
Computer Games Online as well
as in the magazine.
- IRC Developer Chat
- An informal IRC chat with Bethesda developers is being held at 8PM EST on Thursday, November 2000
at host17.webmaster.com in chanlle #ignvault. Be sure to check it out.
- New Daggerfall Hacks
- In my spare time the last few weeks I finally figured all the Image Formats
including the pesky texture files and weapon CIFs. I've also managed to figure out significant portions
of the major BSA Files MAPS.BSA, ARCH3D.BSA, and BLOCKS.BSA which
are all that are needed to display all the 3D objects in the game. I've also worked on the
Woods.WLD file which appears to contain landscape creation
information.
- TESGurus Gone?
- It appears that TESGurus has, at least temporarily, bit the dust. Anyone knowing what
happened or is happening can feel free to let me know, thanks.
- Personal News
- Things are going well for me over here in Africa, other than the almost complete lack of
internet. Remember to be patient for any e-mails you might send me...I'll answer them but it
might take a few weeks...Thanks!
|
|
1 October 2000 |
- Morrowind Interview
- An interview with project leader Todd Howard can be found at
RPGPlanet.
|
|
25 September 2000 |
- Morrowind Preview
- Another preview of the game at Computer Games Online
as well as an interview with GT at RPGDot.
Also, the Official Morrowind site has updated its screenshots section.
|
|
24 September 2000 |
- Morrowind Preview
- An excellent preview of the game has been put up at GameSpot.
Lots of good information that I haven't seen elsewhere about the overall game which is still more
than a year from its anticipated release date. Also includes 4 great new screenshots in a town.
Other previews I've missed in the past couple of weeks include
GA-RPG Preview and the
GA-RPG Interview.
- Morrowind Designer Diary
- GT starts of the Designer Diary
over at Voodoo Extreme. Hopefully there will be more to come shortly.
- Quick Morrowind Info
- I've created the Quick Morrowind Info page containing
just the basic preview information for the game and links for further information for those wishing a
quick update on the progress of the game.
- World of Tamriel Updates
- Lots of content has been added to the World of Tamriel area
with more to come as I work on it in my spare time. Hopefully I'll be getting some sort of interactive map
setup for the geography section sometime soon.
- Absence
- Once again, I apoligize for another long absence as my life changes gears. I'll be working the
next year or so in North Africa so my internet connectivity varies from one week to the next.
Fortunately, the ES community is quiet for the moment other than the odd Morrowind
news item (which is looking more amazing each time its previewed). I still plan on updating
the pages and being 'around' as my time permits (be patient with any e-mails you might send me)
...Thanks.
