The UESPWiki – Your source for The Elder Scrolls since 1995

The Ouroboros is a symbol linked to Satakal, depicted as a circular image portraying a serpent consuming its own tail.[1] Another version of this symbol, featuring three heads resembling an eagle, lion, and dragon, became connected to the Three Banners War.[2][UOL 1]

Culture[edit]

Dunmer[edit]

Sermon 21 by Vivec speaks of a "reptile wheel, coiled potential, ever-preamble to the never-action."[3]

Redguard[edit]

In Redguard culture, the symbol of a snake consuming itself in an endless cycle of rebirth was a motif revered as a symbol of their god Satakal.[1]

Three Banners War[edit]

Alliance War Ouroboros

During the Second Era, the ouroboros symbol became associated with the ongoing conflict of the Three Banners War. This variation features heads representing each alliance: the eagle for the Aldmeri Dominion, the lion for the Daggerfall Covenant, and the dragon for the Ebonheart Pact.[2][UOL 1] It was intended to evoke the essence of the three warring alliances.[UOL 1]

This emblem was prominently featured on various decorations, including holiday items for celebrations such as the New Life Festival and the Witches Festival,[4][5][6] as well as other celebratory occasions.[7][8] The imagery was incorporated into Chef Donolon's renowned cake collection, adorning desserts known as Jubilee Cakes.[7][9][10]

Imagery of Ourobors was employed by the Fellowship of Stirk.[11]
