Fanasa Tedran

Fanasa Tedran is a Dark Elf gourmand who can be encountered around Western Solstice, sampling Tide-Born food provided by Shata-Tei.

Dialogue

There are three different versions of this encounter:

Encounter One

When you approach the pair, you may hear the following conversation as Fanasa tries Seasting Tea:

Fanasa Tedran: "Shata-Tei, this is remarkable. It's sweet, acidic, and that buzzing sensation? What is that?"

Shata-Tei: "That would be the sea urchin venom dancing on your tongue. Care for some more?"

Fanasa Tedran: "Why not? I can be a little adventurous from time to time."

You can ask Fanasa about her interests:

"I would have laughed if you had suggested muddling torchbug thoraxes with sea urchin venom. But after tasting it, I must admit, it's surprisingly refreshing. A sweet, if a tad tongue numbing, beverage."

You seem a long way from Sunport.

"Well, I am a lover of fine and exotic cuisine. And what's more exotic than the culinary delicacies of the Tide-Born people? Perhaps Daedra, but I don't think I'm ready to try that just yet."

What's so interesting about Tide-Born cuisine?

"The culture of the Tide-Born Argonians is unique to Solstice, as is the food they prepare. Oh, you can get mundane versions of it in Sunport, but if you want to experience the authentic taste of Tide-Born cuisine, you must venture out of the city."

You seem very passionate about food.

"A culture lays itself bare on the dining table and there isn't a better way to learn about people who prepare it. I've tried High Elf, Nord, and Orc cuisine. This is my chance to experience the Tide-Born culture, one bite at a time."

Encounter Two

Risks of eating reef-fried dumplings

Another time you can encounter the pair, Fanasa will be unmoving and apparently paralyzed. If you talk to Shata-Tei, he will explain they cooked reef-fried dumplings for their cooking lesson, but he hadn't realized that non-Argonians would be effected by the paralytic toxins found in the delicacy. He assures you it will eventually wear off.

Encounter Three

Another time you encounter the pair, Fanasa will be nauseous due to her being impatient while cooking "Cloistered Tide":

Shata-Tei: "This is the result of your own impatience, Fanasa."

Fanasa Tedran: "It just smelled so good. I couldn't wait. I had to have a taste. Oh, I feel awful."

<Fanasa vomits.>

Shata-Tei: "Well, the sickness will pass in time. You'll be fine."

Talking to Fanasa afterwards:

"It feels like my insides are churning. Just like that time I tried that awful pudding the Orc at the palace made. Being an adventurous lover of food does have its consequences, I fear."

You seem a long way from Sunport.

[Same as above.]

You don't look so good.

"What was your first clue? The vomiting? The pained gasps and spasms?
Forgive me. I get irritable when I'm queasy. I can't believe this is the result of a single bite!"

What did you eat?

"Shata-Tei called it cloistered tide. Some sort of seafood dish. He warned me not rush, that it had to finish cooking. But it smelled so good!
He didn't tell me that it would be poisonous to non-Argonians until it was fully cooked."
