Shivering:Dark Seducer
This page or section is incomplete. You can help by adding to it. Needs NPC Infoboxes (health, magicka, etc.) for unnamed guards, plus info for the special Dark Seducers in the Cold Flame of Agnon, the Ritual of Dementia/Mania, Retaking the Fringe, The Helpless Army, The End of Order, the Dark Seducer Turnkey, the Dark Seducer Escort, and the summonable Dark Seducer to bring it in line with the information on the Golden Saints page. For more information, see the help files, the style guide, and this article's talk page. |
Dark Seducers or Mazken are Sheogorath's Daedric guards in Dementia, and can be found guarding the Crucible section of New Sheoth. They are rivals with the Golden Saints and the two are sometimes found battling each other, as seen at Cylarne during The Cold Flame of Agnon. The Dark Seducers greatly despise the Golden Saints: "Our rivals. The so-called Golden Saints. One day, Sheogorath will finally recognize their bull-headed stupidity and expel them from the Realm." The Saints, in turn, have a very low opinion of the Dark Seducers: "The treacherous ones: the Dark Seducers of ill-repute, whose every action drags Sheogorath's holy name through the mud." On the topic of Sheogorath, the Dark Seducers will make their utmost loyalty clear: "Sheogorath is our Lord, ruler of the Shivering Isles. It is by his whim that the Mazken walk, and we serve our Master to the death."
Their base is at Pinnacle Rock, where Sheogorath placed a wellspring from which they are able to enter and live in his realm. Upon the subject of the Shivering Isles, they will explain their duty: "The Shivering Isles are a reflection of our Lord Sheogorath. Divided, yet perfect."
Dark Seducers exhibit little beyond their appearance to match their names, and can seldom be considered seductive. While they too assert their superiority over all others in the realm, they appear to have a more patient, introspective nature than their Golden Saint rivals. They often appear humble in their dealings with mortals, and are known to be patient with the "lesser races". Like the Golden Saints, they are a matriarchal society, with the males playing secondary roles. They call themselves Mazken. Many Dark Seducers serve as guards in Crucible of New Sheoth: "The Mazken guard Crucible in New Sheoth. We ensure the Demented remain orderly and respectful of our Lord Sheogorath". The named Dark Seducers are Adeo, Dylora, Autkendo Jansa, Nelrene, Stela, Grakendo Udico, Grakedrig Ulfri and Vika.
No Dark Seducers, whether named or not, have the persuasion option available in their dialogue menu.
Most of the Dark Seducers are related to Shivering Isle's Main Quest. They generally have no unique name. The generic varieties of Dark Seducer that you may encounter are:
- Dark Seducer
- Dark Seducer Guard
- Dark Seducer Archer
- Dark Seducer Soldier
- Dark Seducer Warrior
- Dark Seducer Mage
- Dark Seducer Kiskedrig
- Dark Seducer Grakedrig
For more information about Dark Seducers, see the Lore article.
Ranks[edit]
All Dark Seducers have ranks. In theory, there are seven ranks. Only four ranks are used in-game, however. The ranks are as follows:
- Kiskengo
- Kiskella
- Kiskedrig
- Grakendo
- Grakella
- Grakedrig
- Autkendo
Most Dark Seducers are ranked at Kiskengo. From this we can assume this is equivalent to a soldier. Only three other ranks are used: Grakendo (Grakendo Udico), Grakedrig (Grakedrig Ulfri), and Autkendo (Autkendo Jansa).
Statistics[edit]
In the Shivering Isles, the Dark Seducers are not creatures but NPCs.

Equipment[edit]
They wear light armor and carry a mace, axe, shortsword, longsword, and/or a bow. Specific details on the weapons carried by Dark Seducers is provided in the Weapons article. Every armor and weapon (including bow and arrow) are always strongest for the Seducer's level.
Spells[edit]
All Dark Seducers will be able to cast two randomly selected spells: a powerful major Alteration spell and a powerful major Restoration spell. In each case the effect is randomly determined from the following list while the strength of the spell is randomly based on the seducer's skill level. The possible effects for each school are:
- Alteration: Burden, Fire Shield, Frost Shield, Shield † and Shock Shield
- Restoration: Absorb Fatigue, Absorb Health, Absorb Skill and Restore Health ‡
† This effect is listed three times in the leveled list and is therefore more likely to be chosen

Certain Dark Seducers, in particular mages, will be able to cast a different set of leveled spells: a major Alteration spell, 1 major and 1 minor Destruction spell and a major Restoration spell. The possible effects for each school are:
- Alteration: Burden, Fire Shield, Frost Shield, Shield † and Shock Shield
- Destruction:

- Restoration: Absorb Fatigue, Absorb Health, Absorb Skill and Restore Health ‡
† This effect is listed three times in the leveled list and is therefore more likely to be chosen
‡ Similarly to the effect above, this one appears four times in the leveled list and is also more likely to be chosen
Guards[edit]
Dark Seducer Guards will, like the guards of Cyrodiil, arrest you should you be caught committing a crime. All Dark Seducer guards wear their eponymous armor and helmets, however the player cannot loot these items from their bodies. All Dark Seducer guards respawn.
Guard Posts[edit]
There are three identical Dark Seducer Guards, one found outside the Gate of Crucible, one standing next to the Dementia entrance to the Palace Grounds, and one outside the entrance to the Palace of Sheogorath itself. These guards will never leave their posts unless provoked.

Pinnacle Rock Guards[edit]
There are two identical Dark Seducers guarding the entrance to their storonghold Pinnacle Rock. Attempting to talk to them will be to no avail: "No mortal may enter the halls of Pinnacle Rock." If you are a Duke/Duchess, they will be more polite: "Forgive me, Your Grace, but you are not permitted to pass within Pinnacle Rock." Even after having finished the Main Quest as Duke/Duchess of Mania, they will deny you entry: "Lord, you know that Pinnacle Rock is ours and ours alone. You may not enter." You may only enter during and after The Helpless Army, provided you're the Duke/Duchess of Mania, at which point they will be disabled.

The Cold Flame of Agnon[edit]
There is a large contingent of Mazken guarding the Alter of Despair at Cylarne along with Stela and their commander Grakedrig Ulfri. During The Cold Flame of Agnon these Dark Seducers will seek to defend the Alter of Despair and repel an attack from their rivals the Golden Saints. You can ask any of these Mazken for some information. If you ask them about the Flame of Agnon they'll explain: "The holy Flame can only be lit from the Altars of Despair and Rapture. Alas, the Aureals hold Rapture... for now. You should speak to the Grakedrig Ulfri at once. She will be glad of your help to rid Cylarne of the arrogant Aureals once and for all." (This unlocks the topics Ulfri, Alter of Despair, Alter of Rapture, and Aureal). You can ask them about Ulfri: "She is the Grakedrig -- commander -- of the Mazken here at Cylarne. She has never yet been defeated by the Aureals, despite their strength." (This unlocks the topics Pinnacle Rock and Mazken). When you ask about Pinnacle Rock they'll explain: "Our fortress and sanctuary here in the Shivering Isles." When asking about the Alter of Despair you may get two answers. If you are not yet at the Alter they'll say: "We hold the Altar of Despair, here within the Shrine of the Flame of Agnon." If you are close to the Alter they'll answer "You have found it. The holiest of holies within Cylarne, aside from the altar of the Flame of Agnon itself." If asked about the Alter of Rapture the Mazken will respond: "The counterpart to the Altar of Despair. Rapture is currently held by the Aureals, in their complacency, but that will soon change." If you chose to help Grakedrig Ulfri take all of Cylarne and all the Golden Saints have been killed, the surviving Dark Seducers will pray at the Altar of Despair as Grakedrig Ulfri sacrifices herself. After the sacrifice, they will wander the cell.
Ulfri's Bodyguards[edit]
Two Mazken soldiers serve as bodyguards to the Grakedrig Ulfri and will participate in the battle at Cylarne. One is slightly stronger than the other.
Alter of Despair Melee Soldiers[edit]
These Dark Seducers will participate in the battle for Cylarne and primarily use blunt and blade weapons. The Mazken that appear right away or later during the battle depend on which side is chosen during the quest, as well has the recommendation given to each side on their offensive or defensive strategy. Some Seducers will only appear if the Mazken are advised to defend the Underkeep during the quest.
Alter of Despair Archers[edit]
These Dark Seducers will participate in the battle for Cylarne and primarily use ranged tactics and bows. Like the melee soldiers, the number of archers that spawn and the quest stage of their appearance depends on which side you choose and which battle plan you suggest to each side.
Post-Battle Seducers[edit]
If the Dark Seducers took over Cylarne four identical soldiers will be permanently stationed at the holy ruin as a garrison. These Mazken will remark how pleased they are with their victory: "Your betrayal of the Aureals was a strategem worthy of one of my own people! Victory by means of treachery is the sweetest kind." If killed none of these Dark Seducers will respawn.

The Ritual of Dementia[edit]
You will face numerous hostile Dark Seducers if you seek to supplant Syl as Duke/Duchess in the Ritual of Dementia quest. Some of these Mazken standing in your way can be avoided by making strategic choices during the quest as you make your way through the restricted sections of the Palace Dementia wing. None of the hostile Dark Seducers encountered in this quest will respawn. Any Mazken that survive the quest will no longer be hostile as soon as the Ritual of Dementia is complete and you are appointed as the new Duke/Duchess of Dementia. You will also gain full access to all areas of the Dementia wing of the Palace, including the sections of Xirethard under control of the Dark Seducers.
Private Gardens Royal Guards[edit]
The Private Gardens are guarded at all times by two elite Dark Seducer Royal Guards who will attack you and any other interlopers on sight. During the Ritual of Dementia, Anya Herrick will offer to distract these guards if you speak to her with a disposition of at least 60. If you accept her help the Private Gardens Royal Guards will be disabled.

Xirethard Exterior Mazken Ambush[edit]
Even after killing Syl and exiting the Shambles infested Xirethard Subterrane, the remaining Dark Seducers loyal to Syl have prepared an ambush outside. Three are waiting on the ground outside the door, and one archer is perched on the cliffs above. Their numbers include an extremely rare Dark Seducer Mage.
Retaking the Fringe[edit]
Provided you are the Duke/Duchess of Dementia, there will be four male Dark Seducers accompanying Grakendo Udico at Passwall in The Fringe during Retaking The Fringe. When you arrive these Mazken will be fighting off several Knights of Order. When the battle is over you will immediately be approached by their commander Grakendo Udico. If you manage to speak to one of the soldiers at that point they will point you to Grakendo Udico: "Your Grace! We didn't expect you here. Grakendo Udico is in command. You should speak with her." Grakendo Udico expects another attack from the forces of Order at any moment and gives you two choices on how to proceed with the battle: you may exercise your right as Duke of Dementia to position the Mazken soldiers yourself, or defer that decision making authority to Grakendo Udico. If you let Grakendo Udico make the decision she has three Seducers use a waraxe and one equip a Dark Bow.
If you greet the male Dark Seducers at this stage they will say "Yes, Your Grace?" If you decide to position them yourself, you can give three different orders to every individual soldier. In this case, apart from the previous greeting, they may also say: "What orders would you give me, your grace?" At this point you can also ask them for information. If you ask them about the Knights they will state: "They have been upon us for hours. They have no interest in our surrender. Only our deaths." If asked about Passwall they will reflect: "Passwall has served as an outpost for our defense of the Realm for millennia." If asked about the Spire they will ponder for a moment but once again defer to their commander: "It seems to be the source of their power. Grakendo Udico may know more."
If you have decided to position the Mazken yourself and bring up Orders to them they will respond with either "Where would you like me, your Grace?" or "Tell me where you would have me serve, Your Grace." After receiving their orders they will respond based on your character's gender. If you are female the Mazken will say: "I hope you are as wise as you pretend to be. The Grakendo has lead us for hundreds of years." If your character is male they will be even more skeptical: "I will obey your orders, but know that I do not trust the tactics of any male. Men are meant to fight, not to lead."
If you have chosen to position the soldiers yourself the weapon they use will depend on your commands. You can order the Mazken as follows:
1. "Ready your bow and head to the rear."
- "Yes, Your Grace." (First Soldier)
- "Affirmative. They will fall before my arrows." (Second Soldier)
- "My arrows will cut them down." (Third Soldier)
- "My aim shall be true." (Fourth Soldier)
2. "Ready a sword and outflank them."
- "Yes, Your Grace." (First Soldier)
- "Affirmative. They will fall before my sword." (Second Soldier)
- "They shall fall before my blade." (Third Soldier)
- "My sword shall strike true." (Fourth Soldier)
3. "Ready an axe and hold your ground."
- "Yes, Your Grace." (First Soldier)
- "Affirmative. None shall break the line." (Second Soldier)
- "I shall be an unbreakable wall." (Third Soldier)
- "None shall pass." (Fourth Soldier)
If you speak to the Seducers after they have received orders but before the battle has started they wills say "The Knights are sure to attack again." Once you've told Grakendo Udico you are prepared for battle they will dismiss attempts to talk to them: "The battle is upon us. There is no time for conversation." As you defeat waves of Knights they may briefly comment on the situation: "We've managed to slow them down this time." They may also reflect on their casualties: "We've lost so many..." After Grakendo Udico recommends that you investigate Xeddefen the Seducers will reassure you that they intend to hold out: "Head to Xeddefen, Your Grace. By your will, we shall hold this position." They may also respond: "Xeddefen is the goal, Your Grace. We will hold the town as long as we can."
When you've returned from Xeddefen after successfully shutting down the Obelisk they will be shocked to see you alive: "You've survived! It... it cannot be!" They will also praise your accomplishment: "Your Grace, I bend my knee to you. How you survived the collapse, I cannot imagine."
At this point the surviving Seducers will split up and spread out to guard the Fringe. When you've completed the quest they may greet you with any of the following: "There are still Knights of Order in the area. I fear that this occupation will not recede until the war is over.", "War has come to the Shivering Isles at last. We stand ready to protect these lands.", "Things are still quiet at Xeddefen, Your Grace. However, we are still finding the smaller Obelisks.", or "Your victory at Xeddefen was well won, but the war still carries on." Later in the Main Quest they will comment on Sheogorath's disappearance up until the point where you talk to Dyus: "Sheogorath has vanished? He proves his cowardice! Leaving us here to die at the hands of Order." This reveals that even Sheogorath's own armies are unaware of his curse and inevitable transformation into Jyggalag. When you complete the main quest and the Fringe is restored the surviving male Dark Seducers will no longer be present having performed their duties.

Dark Seducer Messenger[edit]
If you are the Duke/Duchess of Dementia, after you report that the Gatekeeper has been rebuilt a male Dark Seducer messenger will run up to Sheogorath and proclaim: "Lord Sheogorath! I apologize for the intrusion, but you must help us! Order has attacked Pinnacle Rock and routed us!" After receiving this information Sheogorath will tell you to assist the Mazkan at Pinnacle Rock, starting the quest The Helpless Army. When you speak to the messenger he will express grave concern: "Your Grace, there is trouble! You must come quickly!" You can then ask the messenger who he is or inquire about what you can do. If you ask about the identity of the messenger he will reply: "Adeo sent me as a messenger to find you. Pinnacle Rock is under attack, and she needs your assistance at once!" If you ask him what you can do he will say: "Our stronghold at Pinnacle Rock is under attack! The forces of Order broke in and routed us! You must go to Adeo at once and aid her!" At this point you can ask for additional information. If you ask about Adeo the messenger will explain: "She is leading what is left of our forces. She waits for you outside Pinnacle Rock. Please hurry to her before it is too late." If you ask about Pinnacle Rock he will state "It is our home, our sanctuary in the Shivering Isles. If we were to lose it... my kind would be doomed." If you speak to the messenger again he will say: "Your Grace must assist us, or we could be lost to this Realm."
As you walk away from the Dark Seducer messenger he may say "We must purge Order from our home." or "Please, your Grace. Hurry to Pinnacle Rock while there's still time."

Pinnacle Rock Following Warriors[edit]
When you arrive at Pinnacle Rock Rock you will see Adeo with two Dark Seducer Warriors. If you manage to speak to one of the warriors before Adeo approaches you they will say "Your Grace, Adeo has been waiting for you. Please, speak with her at once." They will follow their commander Adeo at all time after you speak to her and will affirm their trust in you as well: "I follow Adeo, your Grace. If she follows you, then so do I." When fighting in Pinnacle Rock any Dark Seducers may shout out the following: "Pinnacle Rock will be cleansed!", "Pinnacle Rock is ours!" or "Fall before me, scum!" Provided they've survived, as you enter the Hall of Devotion, they will temporarily die, and will be revived once you restore the Wellspring. At that point, you may find them praying at the Wellspring with the other Mazken.

Pinnacle Rock Male Warriors[edit]
If any of your following Dark Seducer Warriors mentioned above die before you exit the Hall of Reverence, there will be one or two male Dark Seducers at the end of the hall to serve as a replacement. If you lost a soldier one of the male warriors may walk up to you after the last Knight of Order is killed and say: "We are all that are left. The others were struck down by Order. How did this happen?" He will then say "I know we are but lowly males, but we are at your service. Shall we follow you into battle?" or "I know I am only a lowly male, but I am at your service. Shall I follow you into battle?" depending on whether you lost both of your previous Mazken warriors or only one. After this you can tell them to follow you or wait. If told to wait he will say: "As you wish. We shall attempt to hold this area until you return." He will then proceed to wander the area. If told to follow he will simply state "As you command" and begin following you. After this he will always greet you with "What are your orders?" After freeing Dylora you may ask any of the Dark Seducer Warriors for some information. If asked about the WellSpring they will explain: "The Waters of Oblivion lead us to the Wellspring, where Lord Sheogorath has given us a place to return to His service." If you bring up Syl they express their anger: "Our own Duchess, aligned with the forces of Order? An infuriating thought!" Provided they've survived, as you enter the Hall of Devotion, they will temporarily die, and will be revived once you restore the Wellspring. At that point, you may find them praying at the Wellspring with the other Mazken.
* Because you're only supposed to have two followers, the latter two male warriors won't show up. The only way to let them show up is if the first two male Soldiers would die, but since they can't die before they are spawned, the last two Soldiers will never show up.
Revived Warriors[edit]
There are three identical dead Dark Seducer Warriors who will be revived once you have restored the Wellspring. All three can be found in Pinnacle Rock's last zone, the Font of Rebirth. Once revived these three Mazken will begin praying at the Wellspring. At this point you can ask them, or any of the previous Mazken mentioned above about several topics. If you ask them about the Wellspring they will be appreciative: "Your Grace has restored the Wellspring, and saved us. For this, we thank you." They will also have the same topics available as all of the previous Mazken.

As soon as you complete The Roots of Madness by immersing the Incomplete Staff of Sheogorath in the Font of Madness, provided you're the Duke/Duchess of Dementia, a Dark Seducer will approach you with an urgent message. She will proclaim: "My Lord! Autkendo Jansa sent me to find you. She requests your immediate assistance." This starts the penultimate quest of the Shivering Isles, The End of Order. You can ask the messenger what she wants to which she will respond: "I don't know, my Lord. She only said it was a matter of the gravest import to the security of the realm." If you imply that Jansa shouldn't presume to give you orders the messenger will be apologetic: "Please accept my pardon, Lord, if I gave you such a false impression. The fault is entirely mine." After you've spoken to Autkendo Jansa and entered the New Sheoth Palace district, you can order the messenger to follow you, or attack a particular Obelisk. As with all other Dark Seducers and Golden Saints still standing in the Palace District, she will die when Jyggalag appears.

Dark Seducers in the Palace[edit]
As Autkendo Jansa is waiting for you next to the southern entrance to the Palace of Sheogorath, you'll see two identical Dark Seducers with her. After you've spoken to Autkendo Jansa and entered the New Sheoth Palace district, you can order them to follow you, or attack a particular Obelisk. As with all other Dark Seducers and Golden Saints still standing in the Palace District, they will both die when Jyggalag appears.

Dark Seducer Grakedrigs[edit]
Two identical Dark Seducer Grakedrig officers will spawn near the entrance to Crucible in the New Sheoth Palace district. Since these Mazken are of higher rank, they will both be wearing a Dark Seducer officer helmet. You can order them to follow you, or attack a particular Obelisk. As with all other Dark Seducers and Golden Saints still standing in the Palace District, they will both die when Jyggalag appears.

Dark Seducer Reinforcements[edit]
Throughout the battle with the Forces of Order a group of five Dark Seducers will spawn near the entrance to Crucible in the New Sheoth Palace district to reinforce your own forces in the fight for the Palace. You can order them to follow you, or attack a particular Obelisk. As with all other Dark Seducers and Golden Saints still standing in the Palace District, they will all die when Jyggalag appears.
Dark Seducer Bodyguard[edit]
This Dark Seducer will initially follow you into battle as you enter the Palace district. If she is killed during the battle she will respawn and reenter the fray. You can order her to follow you, or attack a particular Obelisk. As with all other Dark Seducers and Golden Saints still standing in the Palace District, she will die when Jyggalag appears.

Miscellaneous[edit]
Dark Seducer Turnkey[edit]
If you are ever arrested in the Shivering Isles by a Dark Seducer guard you will be thrown in the vile dungeon know as Corpserot Passage. If you try to escape you'll encounter a Dark Seducer Turnkey guarding the evidence chest at the end of the dungeon. She will attack you on sight and evading her may be difficult as the Turnkey will hunt you down even outside of Corpserot Passage. It is possible to charm her to the point that she will accept a yield. The Dark Seducer Turnkey will respawn every time you are thrown into the Dementia jail.

Dark Seducer Escort[edit]
After you have finished the Shivering Isles Main Quest a Dark Seducer Escort will be placed next to the Throne of Madness along with her counterpart. When you greet her she will offer to escort you: "You wish an escort, Lord? If you agree, she'll say: "Of course, sire." If you refuse, she'll say: "As you wish. I stand at the ready." After having agreed, she will greet you with: "Shall I continue with you, Lord?"; after which you can tell her to follow: "By your command.", wait: "I stand at the ready, sire." or dismiss her. She will escort you even if her Golden Saint counterpart is escorting you as well, and doesn't seem to mind doing so. Therefore it's safe to say that she deems you much more important than the rivalry with the Golden Saints. She will follow you anywhere in the Shivering Isles, but will not follow you through the gate back to Cyrodiil. If you fast travel, it may take her a while to catch up to your new position; waiting will give her time to catch up to you.

Dark Seducer Contingent[edit]
After finishing the Main Quest you may ask Haskill if there are any threats to the realm. If Haskill informs you that the Dementia settlements of Deepwallow or Fellmoor are being attacked, you can ask him to send guards: "As you wish, My Lord. I'll see that a contingent of Dark Seducers is sent to the settlement.", after which four identical Dark Seducer Escort look-alikes will be sent to the settlement being attacked.

Whether you get the Summon Dark Seducer Greater Power after having completed the Ritual of Dementia, or after having completed The Helpless Army, you will be able to Summon a Dark Seducer anywhere in the Shivering Isles. Just as with any summoned Creature/NPC, she will fight on your side, but cannot be spoken to.

Dialogue[edit]
General Dialogue[edit]
Most Dark Seducers share the same dialogue lines; although unlike most NPC dialogue, they depend on location or quest progress. No Dark Seducers whether named or not, have the persuasion option available in their dialogue menu.
Upon seeing you, they may say:
- "Blessings, citizen."
- "How may I serve?"
As well as greeting you:
- "Madgod's blessings."
Provided you haven't finished the Main Quest, their "goodbye" will always be the same kindly line:
- "Walk with our lord."
You may see citizens of Crucible attempting to converse with a guard, to no avail:
- "Blessings of the Madgod, citizen. Walk without fear."
- "Duty calls, citizen. Madgod's blessings upon you."
- "This Mazken must return to duty."
- "Apologies, citizen, but I must return to my post."
- "Your pardon, citizen. I must return to my post."
If you catch them talking to each other, the conversation won't last very long:
- "Blessings, dark sister." (female to female)
- "Quickly, worm." (female to male)
- "Blessings, brother." (male to male)
- "All glory, mistress." (male to female)
When attacking, they may shout one of the following:
- "For Sheogorath!"
- "For the Madgod!"
- "Mazken!"
- "E'Tah Mazken!"
When you've become the Duke/Duchess of Mania/Dementia, they will be very respectful. They may say one of the following upon seeing you:
- "Your Seducers are at the ready, Your Grace." (Duke/Duchess of Dementia)
- "You honor me, Your Grace."
- "Your Grace."
- "Madgod's blessings, Duchess of Mania." (Only female variant)
When you've become the Mad God, they will be more subservient. They may say one of the following upon seeing you:
- "You honor me, Lord."
- "Your humble servant, My Lord."
When starting a conversation as the Mad God, they will greet you as follows:
- "Allow me to serve you, my Lord."
- "How may I serve you, Lord?"
After finishing a conversation with them as the Mad God, they will say the following:
- "You bless me, Lord."
- "We live at your whim, Lord Sheogorath."
Guard Dialogue[edit]
This page or section is incomplete. You can help by adding to it. seems to be missing dialogue heard as Madgod For more information, see the help files, the style guide, and this article's talk page. |
When you have committed a crime, a guard may run up to you and say one the following lines:
- "Halt, lawbreaker! Lord Sheogorath's justice demands reparations or it's the dungeon for you. Any stolen goods will be confiscated."
- "Drop your weapon! Hand over your stolen goods and face the Lord's justice. Pay your due reparations, or it's the dungeon for you."
- "You thought you could escape Lord Sheogorath's justice? Your stolen goods are now forfeit, and you can either pay reparations or face the dungeons."
If you haven't got enough gold to pay off your bounty, they may say one of the following lines upon catching you:
- "Halt, scofflaw! You can't afford to pay reparations for your crimes, so it's off to the dungeon for you. Your stolen goods are now forfeit."
- "Come with me, scum. Those who can't afford to pay reparations must face Lord Sheogorath's dungeons. I'm confiscating your stolen goods as well."
- "Hand over your stolen property, lawbreaker! If only you could afford to pay reparations... too bad, it's the dungeon for you."
You can either:
- Pay gold
- "Come with me. You'll be searched for stolen property, then released." (if their disposition is higher than 50)
- "A coward as well as a criminal. Very well, perhaps I'll have a chance to test your mettle another day. You'll come with me, and you'll be searched for stolen property and pay reparations. Then, you're free to go."
- Resist arrest
- "You're a fool as well as a criminal, it seems."
- "Then your blood stands forfeit for your crimes"
- "Then your punishment is death."
- Or go to jail
- "Use your time well, to consider my Lord Sheogorath's merciful justice. " (if their disposition is 50 or higher)
- "A prison cell is better than you deserve, mortal scum."
If a Guard somehow catches you at The Fringe, you can only resist arrest:
- "The Fringe is outside Lord Sheogorath's mercy... but not his justice."
If you are the Duke/Duchess of Mania/Dementia, you will find that the Dark Seducers are more courteous and polite if they catch you committing a crime:
- "Your Grace, you have committed a crime. Only the Lord Sheogorath is above the laws of this Realm. You must return any property that does not belong to you. Now, will you serve your sentence in the dungeon, or pay reparations?"
If, in this case, you don't have enough gold to pay off your bounty, they will say the following:
- "My pardon, Your Grace, but Lord Sheogorath's justice applies to all within His Realm. You must return any stolen items. I regret that I have no choice but to escort you to the dungeon, as you are short of the required reparations."
You can either:
- Pay gold
- "Please come with me, Your Grace. According to the law, any stolen property must be handed over, then you're free to go."
- Resist arrest
- "Then you leave me no choice. My duty to Lord Sheogorath requires me to use force." (Duke/Duchess of Dementia)
- "You may rule Mania, but you will learn that Lord Sheogorath's justice still applies to you!" (Duke/Duchess of Mania)
- Go to jail
- "Thank you for your cooperation in this unfortunate matter, Your Grace."
Contrary to what guards may say to Dukes/Duchesses, even after having finished the Main Quest, a guard may run up to you after you've committed a crime:
- "I'm sorry to bother you, Lord, but there seems to have been a misunderstanding. A small token of your appreciation might clear this up, or perhaps it's better if we leave at this time."
- Go with Guards
- "Thank you for Your understanding my Lord. I am required by Your own command to ask for any items that You may have inadvertently borrowed. Now follow me and we'll find a quiet place away from all this trouble. I trust you'll clear up this matter in your own time, in your own way."
- Pay Gold
- "Very good, my Lord. As you know, I must also take any items that might be considered stolen, in order to preserve the peace and justice of the Realm. Please follow me and we'll have this matter cleared up in no time."
- Fight Guards
- "My Lord you do me too much honor! It will be glorious to fall in battle at Your hand!"
Unless the respective quest has been started or finished, the guards outside Pinnacle Rock will tell you that you cannot go in:
- "No mortal may enter the halls of Pinnacle Rock."
- "Forgive me, Your Grace, but you are not permitted to pass within Pinnacle Rock." (If you are Duke/Duchess)
- "Lord, you know that Pinnacle Rock is ours and ours alone. You may not enter." (As Mad God)

Notes[edit]
- Dark Seducers cannot be persuaded through the Speechcraft minigame.
There are unused recorded lines in the DLCShiveringIsles.esp file for the Mazken in the final battle with Jyggalag, implying that the obelisks were meant to shield and protect Jyggalag, and had to be deactivated to expose him:
- "The Obelisks feed their power!"
- "The Obelisks strengthen the false god. We must shut them down!"
- "Jyggalag is strengthened by the Obelisks!""
- "The false god resists our attacks. The Obelisks must be shut down!"
- "The Obelisks shield him from our attacks! Shut down the obelisks at once."
- "The Obelisks give him strength. We need to shut down the Obelisks of Order."
However, these lines are not captioned and do not have any Master Record References unlike the rest of the dialogue.
Bugs[edit]
- Dark Seducers refer to male characters as "The Duchess of Mania." The bug is due to the Dark Seducer dialogue checking their own gender instead of the player's gender.
- The Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch fixes this bug.
